  1. I have a solo concierge veranda booked on vista in 2024, but don’t know if I will still be sailing on O by then…… Just don’t know…..
  2. Your 4 shots won’t protect you from missing ports so that seriously ill pax can be medivac’ed to a hospital. Ok, the risk of missing ports due to a deviation already exists given the older demographic sailing on O, but this policy change can be expected to increase the number of seriously ill pax. The revised sail safe policy specifically mentioned increased ICU facilities onboard. O expects more people to get seriously ill. But I predict their family will insist on transportation to more robust facilities.
  3. Not for me when I am traveling solo. Rare to find low solo supplements on O except for near term itins. I book 1 or 2 years in advance. I currently have 2 reservations on Regent, 1 is past FP so I will go on that one. Don’t know what the future will bring…..
  4. I’m refreshing this trip report manually since I don’t know how to imbed it in another post. 10 August 2021 Uniworld Budapest to Bucharest.
  5. If I wanted to sail with the unvaccinated, I could choose to go on celebrity. I don’t.
  6. I’m so sorry you fell! How awful. Thx for sharing the lovely pics.
  7. Just to clarify, NCLH has announced that unvaccinated pax will be allowed to sail starting in September (don’t remember the exact date….). Until that date, all pax must be vaccinated to sail on Oceania and sister-line Regent.
  8. I’m also wondering what type of travel might be better going forward. Probably group travel via land would be similar to the petrie dish that is cruising….. Any suggestions, besides completely individual solo travel….l?
  9. The majority of cruises are not past final payment date; concerned pax on those sailings cannot be confident that everyone who will be onboard w them is vaccinated.
  10. Unvaccinated passengers will be able to book on your cruise as soon as those already booked cancel their reservation prior to final payment. For cruises already After final payment, you might be right. Here’s hoping!
  11. Screasy, welcome to Cruisecritic! Most of us don’t bite. 🙃
  12. Jan1, you seem very well connected to NCLH mgmt. What are/were they thinking when they decided to allow unvaxed pax to sail? Doesn’t make any sense to me. I can see the logic for dropping the pre-cruise test requirement…..hasn’t stopped covid from being spread onboard. But by allowing the unvaccinated (“the great unwashed” I call them) to sail, mgmt is inviting very serious cases to happen w greater frequency. Me no happy.
  13. I don’t think I like this. I’m past FP date for a November Regent cruise, so I’ll go on that. Might consider canceling the 4 Oceania/Regent reservations I have…… I guess I’ll wait for FP date for each reservation before pulling the trigger. I’m interested to hear what everyone else is planning on doing???
  14. If there’s a waitlist, that means no one can book it.
  15. On Emerald, after about 2 hours, tours have a scheduled rest break. Generally speaking. Quite nice.
  16. They will arrange a taxi for you, v easy. Big question is whether you will need to carry your bags up/down many stairs. For sure, you will have to lift them into/out of the train to the platform. That’s why I only packed carryon roller board and personal items.
  17. Thank you for this info! I will be traveling solo on Mariner, embarking November 3 Los Angeles to Lima. Last year when I was on a transAtlantic on Oceana‘s Riviera, I had a blast with the solo group that met multiple times during the voyage. On Oceania, I did not have the beverage package, so I really appreciated that every solo gathering was hosted (wine, beer, limited cocktails) and two bottles of wine was provided for each dinner table. We usually had about two dinner tables in the main dining room. We had a blast, and I am really looking forward to my first Regent cruise coming up in the next few months!
  18. That surprises me because I never saw it when I was there three weeks ago.
  19. Me too! Really love my Coeur de Lion handcrafted jewelery! I bought a necklace, bracelet and matching earrings and only paid about 30 euros out of pocket.
  20. I believe that cruise ships are classified as public transport, just as ferries are. The public can purchase tickets, therefore it’s public transport.
  21. Agree OLife is confusing to (almost) all. We have some posters with advanced degrees in OLife, so the fire hose of good advice is coming shortly. Also, give the search function here on cc a try. Search olife and you’ll get LOTS of hits. Agree with the comment that if entertainment is important to you, O might not be your new home. We often hear, and I agree, that the pax are the entertainment. You’ll meet interesting people who have lived interesting lives, and you’ll make new friends. Since I’m surfing cruisecritic more weeks in a year than I am cruising onboard a ship, I also appreciate the “tone” I find here on the O forum. The Celebrity forum had too many trolls and angry, sharp-sounding posts. You’ll find a little bit of that here as well, but not as much as on the X forum. So, I cruise on O for the virtual community as well.
  22. Let's see if I can post my daily itinerary programs.... Uniworld daily itineraries.pdf
  23. Sounds just like my experience at Frankfurt airport. Business class or cattle coach, everyone schleps their own carry-on off the plane and down stairs to the tarmac. Any plane, all airlines. The Frankfurt airport lacks terminals to service all of their arrivals and departures, so the airport tarmac looks like a parking lot of large jets. The bus travels quite a long distance to go from where your plane is parked way out there, over to a door to the terminal leading to more stairs and no elevator that I could find.
