  1. Until Carnival's financial situation substantially improves I see more closer ports in the immediate future than further and more exotic ports. There are still a few regular itineraries with some less beaten paths like Bonaire. But if you don't want your cruise go to the same old same old, you need to look to other lines for the foreseeable future. I prefer to sail to Carribean destinations, as land based options are exponentially more expensive. I get bored after a few days on any of these small islands as well. Also, while many do it, I could never go back to the same place year after year. Life is too short to get stuck in a rut with where you travel, IMHO. It's a big beautiful world out there and I'd like to experience as many of the places I want to see before the big dirt nap.
  2. Venezia is a Vista class ship. I'm not sure what it will be equipped with when it's "Carnivalized". Maybe there's a "Funship 3.0" concept in the works to add things like Shaq's Chicken and such to the converted Costa and older ships. I sure hope so!
  3. They were one of the last Caribbean ports to open, so it's not that surprising to me. We had our stop last fall on Freedom switched from GT to San Juan because they kept delaying the opening of the Cruise Center.
  4. Unacceptable for them to not move you or at least offer SOMETHING to make up for you not getting what you paid for.
  5. Thanks and have a great cruise! Love Fantasy class ships, well, the ones that are left anyways.
  6. My guess is that the glass was broken and that the sunset mural was put up to hide the plywood.
  7. I'm just wondering what was guest services explanation for this?
  8. Certain ports such as Cozumel and Grand Turk have only one way of mooring the ship, at others it can be a crap shoot. Just have to do some research and hope you are right. If not, you are still in a balcony on a cruise. Lol.
  9. When is a bottle of wine, not a bottle of wine? When a screener doesn't know the difference!
  10. We generally sail Carnival with friends and family and the time together is a priority over ports. We DW and I sail alone we usually sail other lines for more exotic itineraries. Like next summer we sail on RCCL (not my favorite) because they are the only line sailing to Bermuda from Florida. We will still do long weekend cruises on Carnival by ourselves, since it's still a way better value than doing a land based long weekend here. However, we will re-evaluate our feelings about Carnival after our 8 day on Spirit coming up. I'm not liking what I'm hearing but since people are more vocal about complaints than praise, we will judge first-hand.
  11. JK. 😁 But I do love your thread since we are sailing on Spirit real, real soon. I'm hanging on your every post!
  12. Thanks. We sail at 4:30, so last tender would be at 4:00.
  13. Probably just best for the OP to bring the Arbor Mist or Sutter Home offerings.
  14. Yes. But I thought they usually are on a sea day and on this cruise the first sea day isn't until the 4th evening. 2nd evening is HMC day. I cruise different lines so maybe I'm confusing things.
  15. No lunch available in the MDR but there may be some restaurants available for lunch depending upon your ship (extra cost may apply). Room Service can be brought to you anywhere with the app for a fee as well. Guy's Burgers, Blue Iguana Cantina and The Deli are not sit down but are made to order in front of you then you are free to find a less crowded space to eat.
  16. That's odd. No different than wine. Oh well. I'm sure the other wines will satisfy the OP's desires.
  17. These are probably a little less sweet and less like wine.
  18. I believe there are some wine based cocktails like margarita and such that are acceptable as wine.
  19. Has anyone sailed the 8 night sailing on Spirit to Aruba, Bonaire, GT and HMC lately? If so, what nights were the "Elegant Evenings"? Thanks in advance! 😁
  20. Thanks for the tip on doubles on MSC! I was not aware. Had a subpar experience on Seaside years back but are trying MSC again in February. Heard they have made great strides in trying to appeal to the North American market.
