  1. You are correct. If I have discussed topics, it was in response to what others have said and to reiterate or to provide answers. Is your mandate to become some sort of posting police? And to misinterpret what people say??
  2. And where on there did I say "The OP has posted in the past that they don't book the BOGO offer because NCL doesn't compensate you for your cruise if you miss because of delays or cancellations from the airline they put you on. "? Those discussions were on booking with NCL and issues that have arisen to others. My ancillary question was "We also will not be using the free airfare part as we have sufficient loyalty points with an airline and can get a better schedule for us. "
  3. I asked a question. I did not complain. You are reading far too much into something that is not there. It was a question. Yes, you misinterpreted. I have never posted such a thing. You are mistaken.
  4. Perhaps you are right. I corrected the term in a later post. As I said, I had a recent medical condition which disallows me from drinking. Also, as I said, we have already paid in full. This is a discussion forum, not expecting insulting and rude
  5. Gosh folks, it is only a question. I am not demanding anything. Mellow out. We already paid in full and I had a recent medical condition occur. I have been a member of Cruise Critic for a long time and thought I could get some polite responses from NCL folks..
  6. Yes, really. OK, perhaps used the wrong word. Is "in lieu of" a better term? It was a question, no need to be rude.
  7. As a result of a recent medical problem, I cannot drink. I cancelled the free at sea drink and got the gratuities back. Should I ask or get more if I will not be getting any drinks?? We also will not be using the free airfare part as we have sufficient loyalty points with an airline and can get a better schedule for us. Should there be compensation or onboard credit if not taking those benefits?
  8. Overpriced jewellery and watches do not make up for "no tax" LOL The cruise lines get commission on Diamond International as well as other shop sales. I am also a "watch hound" and check prices everywhere and have found no good prices on any in either Diamonds International and least of all in Little Switzerland. Both those outlets are riddled with scam claims. Google Little Switzerland scams or Diamond international scams and get 10's of thousands hits. Like always, buyer beware and make very sure of what you are buying. If found to be overpriced or not what you thought, dealing with a shop that is not under your home country consumer controls will be nothing but a shame.
  9. Personally, after numerous cruises in the Caribbean and to many islands, we have found that most of the jewellery stores are in cahoots with the ships and cruise lines. We have never seen any jewellery or watches priced any cheaper than at home. What is more, if there are issues, getting service is near impossible.
  10. We too are Celebrity fans and you are right. The cost increase on Celebrity seems to have gotten very high. I think they may be trying to change their passenger demographic. Anyway, next to price, the most important thing in cruising is the itinerary. Cabins are close to the same on all cruise lines. Food is a topic that will always cause argument LOL. We have been on NCL and enjoyed it as much as we did on Celebrity. So, if you found an itinerary you like and the price is right, you cannot go wrong taking NCL.

  12. August till November is not a good time to cruise the Caribbean or eastern US.
  13. NCL and United and Scandinavian.....NCL Insurance..... wow, your luggage can be anywhere. Normally, it would be an airline issue and responsibility and they should be paying you. Since United was the first airline, I suspect it is up to them to find the luggage or pay for it's contents Good luck.
  14. NCL sells cabins to travel agents. Those cabins they sold do not show up as available on the NCL site.
  15. I may have been told wrong but, I was told a while back that the Spa and medical services were not ships company nor even NCL employees. The Spa (et al including hair and nails and pedis) and medical services are contracted out.
  16. I know of no ports that dock cruise ships and does not allow passengers off. There may have been some during COVID but I think most cruises during COVID were cancelled anyway.
  17. Well, with no actual wind, the ship its travelling at about 20 knots (about 35 MPH) so, that is the wind you will be facing. I personally would never get a forward facing balcony, we enjoy sitting on the balcony
  18. We were on the Pearl, but before refurbishment. What we liked most is the size of the pool deck. No kids pool, no special kids area, no water slides and all the other things that took away all the space. It did not feel crowded. Just the right size.
  19. You can wear what you want anytime. I have seen gowns and tuxedos and shorts and pants. It is great that you are not forced to dress a certain way. I am on vacation and choose what I wish to wear.
  20. I said "on any other cruises we have been on." And, the venue was closed the entire cruise. I further said "Oh for sure, a large group can and does book a ship." and "for sure, a large group can and does book a ship. There are may "theme" cruises that you can choose. " Key was that this had not happened on any cruise we had been on and we have been on many cruises.
  21. Oh for sure, a large group can and does book a ship. There are may "theme" cruises that you can choose. My point was that a large venue was closed for the entire cruise and we did not know until we got on board. Had we known, we would have booked another cruise or even a another line. I believe it should be the cruise line responsibility to tell clients of any special events or groups that are on board and may affect the cruise.
  22. My intent was to relay that we were disappointed and this has only happened to us on NCL. I am sure it happens on other lines as well but not to us.... so far. I agree that the line should warn upon booking that there is a large group and some venues may be closed. We would have chosen a different line had we known.
  23. Sir, please do not take 2 words out of context of the entire post and issue.. No "umbrella". I can only speak about our experience. And it does matter. I was speaking about our experience only and seems to be shared by other posters in this thread. I am glad your "experience " has been different .
  24. Lets put this in context. I said "It has not happened on any other cruise we have been on. Only NCL". to us. No, I did kinda did not.not. Please read again. I said " It has not happened on any other cruises were have been on. Only NCL." Speaking about us and our experience. This post is about an entire venue being closed for the entire cruise and what can be done about it and why NCL does not inform the customers. Other posters have had this happen to them on NCL as well. NCL apologists need not reply 🙂
  25. Never said it was only NCL and no one else said that either.
