  1. Talk about a cliffhanger… Pre-Covid , there were porters to carry your bags on Cunard. Perhaps,it is a cost saving measure that they haven’t reappeared.
  2. Judging by your array of suitcases, it looks as if you intend to do full justice to the dress code. 😀 or have kitchen sinks which travel…
  3. Usually negotiation and agreement I believe. Or the earlier arrivals eat a little more slowly. But I did hear of one table for 8, where one couple were never seen by the rest at dinner because they arrived at 6.30, ate quite quickly, and were gone before the rest arrived. One wonders why they didn’t ask for a table for two.
  4. And I think everyone who has had it would agree that it is preferable to know before you step on board and spend a week on the ship feeling grim.
  5. I think there were two on QM2 in the summer. Don’t know the makeup of course.
  6. I very rarely have the cheese, because of fullness and because the cheese trolley is not what it was. But I did try it once in the spring, and it did have two cheeses I hadn’t heard of, which I suppose would count as interesting?
  7. There should be tables for 6 or 8 in the Grills.
  8. There’s open dining at lunch anyway, and they presumably cope with unfinished bottles from that.
  9. There should be tables for 6 or 8 in the Grills.
  10. They don’t seem to charge it in the Canaries, despite it being part of Spain.
  11. I’m so glad he is better, but even more glad my husband doesn’t demonstrate his fitness by brandishing a chaInsaw. 😀
  12. On our last cruise, there was a lady who was probably in her eighties, but very upright and elegant and with beautifully dressed white hair. Every Gala Night, she appeared in a dress so gorgeous that one could almost hear the entire restaurant hold its breath as she walked through.
  13. Very practical, though less fun than creating a Lego iceberg and letting nature take its course.
  14. Quite so. Clothes bore me, so I never mind wearing the same frock twice, and my spouse would certainly be completely oblivious. But there are some people who clearly enjoy the dressing up bit and appear in different ravishing outfits every Gala Night, so it is helpful to them to know how many to bring. Also wise to wear the tightest fitting one first.
  15. Just as every night can be non-formal, depending on where one wishes to dine. I should imagine most female passengers, in particular, would find it helpful to know how many designated Gala Nights there are, so they can bring enough different outfits.
  16. I meant to ask, have you another cruise booked that is soon?
  17. I have so much enjoyed your account of this holiday. It has been nearly as good as being there. I have also appreciated your good humour, even in the face of trying events. I realise how lucky we were, when we got Covid on QM2 in the summer, that it was so near the end of the cruise, so we had only three nights in quarantine. If it happened again, now that they seem to be allowing people to remain in their booked cabins, we would again choose to stay together, as we did last time, but I think Mr. HH is a definite hero, and hope he wasn’t too lonely.
  18. I think you are being rather charitable to assume there is a process, rather than randomness and chaos. 😀
  19. No, I don’t see how it could work in the bars.
  20. I am sure Mr. HH will be rewarded by both you and the angels for his decency and self sacrifice. It is a shame there is so little cruise left.
  21. I doubt you’ll have to wait till 3, just until your tranche is called, which will depend on how many are ahead of you.
