Notes from Queen Victoria to the Mediterranean (& back)
Host Hattie replied to Host Hattie's topic in Cunard Line
I was welcomed back to the dining room by everyone but there seem to be a lot of empty tables around. I had Lobster tail as a starter (& was offered a second) and Beef Wellington for mains. Our sommelier served a glass of Sancerre and then Rioja so I was very well looked after. I was tempted by the Dark Chocolate Mousse but it was Baked Alaska night after all ! I don't usually go to the production shows but Top Hat was fabulous when we saw it's second ever production so I hope it's worth a repeat viewing. -

To be fair, we managed the first 7 days so not quite most Lots of flapper style dresses and headdresses, not so much effort from the men. -

It clouded over so I went back to the cabin for a siesta before getting ready for formal night. And suddenly it was Commodore O'Clock Special Roaring Twenties cocktails were on offer, I'm not falling for that again and tried the Mary Pickford after several recommendations in the cocktail thread. Very nice so thank you -

Probably, neither of us have had disembarkation information yet. -

I'm waiting for an "official response", in the meantime it's a glorious afternoon on Queen Victoria. -

He's being tested tomorrow so it's possible he might get 1 day of freedom but I'm not getting my hopes up. We're disembarking in Southampton on Friday. -
That's not going to be very popular if it's true, I look forward to the first reports.

That's harsh, do you have a link to this please? As far as I can tell most people do choose to stay together but not everyone who shares a cabin with someone who is positive will catch it.

I had the Seafood platter and a glass of champagne in the Chart Room. I do like their small plates and I figured it would be a shorter walk of shame if my cruise card flashed up some sort of warning message. All passed off peacefully and I'm on Deck 10 catching the last of the sun I'll be seeing for a while ! -

Mr HH was moved to a higher grade balcony but if we had wanted to stay together he could have stayed in our cabin. He has couples as neighbours now, I suspect they were moved from inside or ocean view cabins. -

That's what I usually do when this menu is on, I wasn't going to try from room service but I might ask in the dining room. Mr HH has the sun this morning so I'm on the Promenade Deck on his side of the ship. The Captain is making his noon announcement, good weather for the rest of the day and reminding us that they do require masks to be worn when moving around inside the ship. Hopefully that's clear enough for everyone. Compliance was high in the theatre last night for the second show. -

I'd better not celebrate too much or I'll end up face down in my lobster 😂. -

After 2 hours I got bored of waiting so I did my own test, just as I'd put the liquid in the test strip they rang to say I was negative and I got them to agree I was free to eat outside my cabin ! There was some discussion that I couldn't do anything until my husband tested negative, after a full and frank exchange of views they relented. I guess if I get escorted out of the first place I'll try I'll be embarrassed !- 297 replies

Baked Alaska day today but I haven't decided what to order as it's also Lobster and Beef Wellington day - which is better cold ? I'm waiting for my test results. I made an appointment for 9 but the tester was at my door at 8.20 as his list said 8 ! -

There are a few threads about this already, it's not happening yet so I don't have any insight. -
I don't know how to ask this without sounding rude so here goes - what was your impression of the age demographic of your fellow cruisers ? I had thought that fly cruises probably attract younger passengers, do you think that's the case?

There is a Priority Check in at Southampton and Diamond passengers are called for boarding after the Grills.

My only tip would be don't travel during a pandemic if you want certainty !

I thought I would try to see some of the evening entertainment today. I was too late to get a box for the early show, everyone masked up as far as I can see. I've come up to the Winter Garden to listen to the Folk Duo and in a lot of cases masks are coming off as soon as people sit down so that's not great. At least the outside windows are propped open a bit and the big doors are opening regularly. I had a lovely dinner, Porchetta but I really should stop ordering desserts described as warm ! Fish goujons at lunchtime retained their heat well, they were the warmest thing I have had onboard for days. Mr HH had a delivery of his favourite low alcohol beer and I had flowers so we're both a bit less moany ! -
