  1. It can be done if 1. you carry your own luggage off being the first off the ship group. 2. If your flying United in business or have Premier status for check in and Fast track TSA A recent cruise I was at the airport by 9:45 on a week day.
  2. I faced the same dilemma with testing us expiring before the cruise and super expensive testing in Spain..... Too many hurdles and running around So we cancelled the cruise till sanity returns. maybe in 23. By the way Testing and masks no longer required for many European countries and no masks on planes wither or in US terminals except LAX.... Spain and Maybe Italy are wound a bit too thght to enjoy this year.......... Thank God for Switzerland.
  3. Ya...I miss the Sex Pistols and Grunge.
  4. Not true..... any time you spend a dime you could be getting a return that cost you nothing more. You could be getting and building an account.....might take longer for others but your building for the future. Saying the heck with it is , well, just plain throwing your money away...plain and simple. Your assuming you will never get anything so you quit trying... Patient spending bears fruit. A normal person might spend 40,000 + on daily living... Gas and groceries and mic stuff. It could be fare more if you charge trips, Insurance, taxes etc. Earning easily 100,000 a year... every year..... Question is are you willing to throw away a no cost benefit to you ?????
  5. Thanks K........... I now consider the Ocean View Accessible on Marina and Riviera to be the best value and comfort for my taste and needs.... However on R class While I love the insides for their locatiuon, I have to go with a PH for function with my wife.... Both she and I loved the insides on Regatta. I loved the country house feel.... Do not like the antiseptic white ang grey, not the idea of having a residential feel!!!..........I want a friggen ship feel, other wise I could stay home and feel the residential vibe at home and save a bunch....... Thanks for your comments amigo....I left Hawaii 8 yr ago..... By the way Aloha is only spoken by front desk clerks and time-share salesmen........... But thats another story. Bon journey mon amis.
  6. for 2023... you better get your self or have over 1 mil to be safe.... per person. What you and I think is , today, a good amount is going toe erode very very fast Pictured below is the new FF program administration staff at United......
  7. On many routes in the prime summer and fall Sept-October , I am seeing UA requiring 240,000 one way 480,000 rt !!!! Last year to get home from Australia in Sept, it cost 200,000.... Hey I have been a FF guy for40 years Used to go to France/Switzerland etc for 150,000 rt Business....... The days of "wine and roses are over....its now Whine- and Roasters Get worse? Gas pumps here are being re worked to operate for $10+ per gallon ( expected after memorial day) This is going to hurt the future of cruising where it will now costs more than a penthouse to fly to your cruise..... To reiterate, don't dump that cruise and take FF credits, thinking it will get better. Grab and hold on to what you got . Recognize that things will continue to get worse for the next 2 years at least, till the oil/inflation debacle is corrected. . Ships and planes use a lot and base their pricing on oil..... And...O is not coming out with electric ships or United electric planes.
  8. Oh I did cross check.....and on Matrix too................ These are changes within in the past 30 days. ! I offer then up as a caution to those seeking to cancel and use credit to re book.... or book a cruise without air.... It is an ugly world . Gas here is over $7 a gal now.
  9. I hope you all have your air fare covered or bought already of pulled those FF miles because I just checked trans atlantic air this summer and fall........ From the west coast, using the UA site business fares, with 2 connections ( not non stop) are up a whopping $2300pp to$ 7700pp If your thinking of canceling a trip and have your air already purchased , you might think twice before doing so. Ya, ya get the $ futire flight credit but you might be looking at having to come up with many thousands on top of that ............ I wonder how many can afford to keep flying.... .
  10. If you look at the pressman's site he shows the view from a Ocean view accessable..... you look out over the top of a lifeboat...... not too bad not super great..............take a look.... I changed from a PH and am happy ............... ENJOY
  11. Glad you liked it..... I was glad to leave spent a week there in 07
  12. great.... your amazing in many ways to me.
  13. To me the reality is my bottom line...what I pay and what I get. It , to me is not that important to who gave what from whom. I pretty much get ,a total of about 10% benefits in a combo of OBC and rebate. Happy too with that....
  14. Ok.... this is a common error. I used to as a NPS Ranger got asked that sort of question 10 x a day in many places...Alaska being one. The answer is there are no must do or best tours or activities. It is you to decide and determine what lights your fire. Whatever I or anyone likes is only salent to them. You will have 10X a better experience by taking time and reading and researching about Alaska and be able to discover and enjoy things that YOU found that connected with you emotions.... not mine or someone's. reasearch is like mining, you dig through tons of stuff and find jewells you never knew Start today.......
  15. Please ....what was the charge... O transfer not an option, Train not an option... walking not an option..... Private or taxi my only option as I am traveling with a disabled person.... Its not easy but you do what you have to do.... I will arrive 2 days prior because of the BS testing required... Been to Terragonoa and its no Jewell to stay in
  16. Anyone with experience getting from Barcelona to Terragonia........Seems O is hitting their rather than Barcelona port........ Taxi looks like about 140 Euro and its about 60 miles from town 1.5 hour drive.
  17. good to know...did not know about those conversions.... Thanks.......
  18. O tours are way over priced by 100%+ Take the cruise only fare. You can sign up on the ship for the drinks any time during the cruise. This means you can test the waters so to speak.... see what your really drink and then decide based on the reality of experience. Buy it 1-2-3-4 days later at 60 a day.... Ocean view cabing are the smallest cabins.... I think smaller than insides and have obstructed views.....unless you loke seeing the top of lifeboats. Go ala carte till you get the feel of the ship... no need to pay in advance. Keep your dough till needed.
  19. Here is my take for the R ships Been on all of them.... call it an over view... Siriena has the best food and variety wit a Red Ginger. Insignia has an Art loft and is set up for world cruises. Regatta has the most traditional feel to me... But it have been a few years since I sailed and they went to the grey hospital tones.. Cabins.... Location to me is prime and that said I feel theThe PH is the best for any cruise over 7 day. as all the cabins are lesser ....way lesser. Vista suites are wind tunnels and your deck is unusable 90% of the cruise whe your moving. Now the overriding thing to me is Location location Location.!!! Aft for food service, Forward for all the activity's from tender access to waves bar to pool deck, to horizons lounges to Show lounge to artist loft. Spa and gym. Since all the veranda cabins are the same I will say they are very poor to hang out in all the verandas are tiny. Ocean views with the exception of the large D's are patterned after egyptian tombs... tiny. That leaves the forward insides... right by the elevators, same deck as the PH so minimal walk and traffic.. and are next to the PH's the beat location... not to mention you will have about $4000 more in your pocket at the end of the cruise. I took an I choose an inside for a 21 day transatlantic and a 18 day Tahiti cruise. loved them.. Aside form the slightly smaller bathroom, I found their location to what was important to me ( activites....cause you can not eat 24/7) the best value the most comfortable and accessible except for the PH. No long passageways to walk to your cabin....step out of your PH or foward inside and your right there to up or down for all the ships activites......... That is my take
  20. You should know that you can fly out of Trieste..... to FRA and ZUR and FCO and they havetesting is you want. Better choice than Venice
  21. Too... One must understand that Australia operates under a whole different set of practices, none of which are present ( thank God) in the US. Like charging for services, charging extra for CC payment, and holding a passengers payment themselves... adding all sorts of fees. and having a "closed shop" monopoly on booking.....
  22. There are testing's in the AMS airport cheap. If you stay at the Sheraton at the airport its an easy access...... No need to go into madness of central AMS.. ( Iprefer to stay outside of town and drive around the countryside...)
  23. You might find it interesting that you can fly out of Trieste.... LH has several flights and the airport is way less corwded..... United/ Star alliance you can use ff miles too !
  24. Correct..... I dont have a "smart" gizmo... and while this is a case when it might have been useful.... I would never find any other uses for one and to pay thousands t have something that to me is seldom ever used. While it is not techy.... there are other solutions. I do thank you all for your suggestions... I guess One reason I do not want one is that I have seen the tremendous social and cultural damage they have done to peoples lives and I dont want to be part of that..
  25. obscene pricing..... compared t the rest to europe
