  1. Oh well, at least you can keep the zoo on the radar and do it when the reno is done. I saw all y'all are scorching hot again. We've got low 80s and afternoon T-storms. Closest we get to humidity up here. I'm having issues with one of the side effects of Rybelsus - loss of appetite. Now I know how all those Hollywood women lose the weight with Ozempic - no desire to eat. I didn't have a problem eating until about 2 weeks ago. All of a sudden, nothing looks/tastes good. I had to blow off my low-carb meals to eat anything that appealed. A dinner of plain rice (I usually do this when I'm sick), some TJ's Pita crackers for lunch/snack. Even my trusty Noosa is not going in my mouth. At least this morning I got a little hankering for pancakes. So, I whipped up some Bisquick pancakes with blueberries. Those will get me through the day. Maybe a hamburger minus the bun for dinner. Hopefully this goes away soon!!
  2. I've had myself excused due to pre-planned vacation before. Wasn't a biggie. Your district is most likely the same. Sometimes they'll just put you back in the hopper for another possible choosing or they may totally dismiss you for that session. I think that is the difference. My last summons was this past Winter. My boss said "go ahead and do it, we're not busy" so I waited. I got my notice to appear. I filled out the online voir dire for the initial screening. On the morning I was to show up, I received an email that the case had been settled so no jury was needed. I missed being called up for the Gwenyth Paltrow "ski accident" jury by 2 weeks. I would have loved to have been on that one!
  3. Yes. You will go through passport control at CDG since it is your first entry port into the Schengen area. You don't do customs, though. It's not like what you think - over there it is a red/green light system that you self-choose to do. There are agents who do watch and if they think you choose poorly, they will pull you over. I've never seen it, though.
  4. Sounds like the Grand Temple has rules like the Sistine Chapel 😸 Somehow, I think everything English is steeped in pomp and tradition. Kind of cool! Nice looking family photo at the end. I like your outfit.
  5. I like doing tours of local things! I have some of my local things on my list to get done. Have you done a visit down to the Melbourne Zoo? I heard it's actually a fun zoo with active things, like kayaking through places and has a good restaurant.
  6. Nope. 5'8", size 14/16 on top, 10 on bottom. Big shoulders from my competitive swimming days. Bathroom stalls at ski resorts aren't any bigger than an airplane toilet. I'm done. Just call me a sloppy un-admired dresser... But, at 69.8 years old, I'm not going to change 😸
  7. You're overthinking it. The "excess top-half" and the straps go nicely and easily into the bottom of the pants. I never have an issue with twisting - just look in the mirror. I wore my Faherty overalls on my flight from CDG to SLC last summer with ease. Maybe I'm just more adept. I don't understand the issue.
  8. Outside of Cripple Creek, right? Someplace I want to go to. Congrats on the hike! A beautiful day and nicely cool up there.
  9. Yep, it is Cynthia who recommends that hotel. It is indeed in a perfect location. Lois - we do have more than our share of whack-a-doodles here in UT. Go outside of Salt Lake City proper and my town (Park City) and they are everywhere. You have to be careful of what you have on your car and what you wear sometimes out in the boonies.. I was on a plane past the "turnaround" point on my way to the Big Island when the big earthquake hit in 2006. Took us an extra day but we got to the Hapuna Beach hotel, up near where earthquake hit. the hotel took in guests from the Mauna Kea and Fairmont in as many rooms as they could. We could see cracks in some of the facade, but nothing major. Driving to the hotel from the airport was interesting - every once in awhile there would be a piece of broken pavement or small landslide. There were some good aftershocks the next few days, but I was used to them from living in Southern CA for awhile. I just can't imagine a firestorm, though. That terror plus knowing that everything is gone and you have to figure out how to start from absolute nothing. OOTD: old Athleta shorts and an Athleta Tshirt. Easy peasy.
  10. I have no need to be admired for what I wear on a ship, so my choice of footwear isn't a big issue. A simple plain flat will work for whatever I have on in the evening, even a so-called "dressy" night.
  11. My overalls were a piece of cake on the plane, just unbuckle the straps and then it was no different than a pair of pants. As for jumpsuits: I guess I got so used to going to the toilet in my ski suits (suit PLUS long underwear!!) that I don't even think about a simple jumpsuit anymore.
  12. I like the last one also. I will say that the first thing I thought of was a simple 18" pearl necklace.
  13. Just heard today from an old work friend who works for the Pacific Whale Foundation on Maui. He and his wife live in Kihei and all stayed good from the fire around Kihei. PWF lost their building on Front St. in Lahaina and one of their boats. They were able to locate all their employees but many lost everything in the fire. They set up a fund for them and hopefully will get what they need to get some of their ohana back on their feet. It's all so da*n tragic. Had my ophthalmologist visit this morning. Going back on Valtrex and Prednisone drops for a month to get rid of some irritation I've been having lately. Some little cysts were found, but the same meds should help them disappear. At least the vision didn't change enough to need glasses again. Go back in a month for a recheck. OOTD: denim shorts and a Free People big henley shirt. Wore the Ola Kai I bought to wear last summer in Europe - didn't realize how dirty white they are now. Good thing I bought another pair (not white) last night.
  14. Cynthia - sucks about the tour. The only thought I had was for you to look at the icelandair site - they do have some listings of excursions, If you've never been, doing Golden Circle is a must (my Icelandic friend tells me) so pick one that is "least offensive" and do it! Enjoy your trip!!! Staying home today. Pres. Biden will be in my little town (the only Democratic part of the state) this afternoon for a fundraiser. Roads are closing. Won't be able to get into town and won't be able to drive down to the Valley. Would have to go an hour each way out of the way to get down there. A side note: if you are still looking around for some casual summer shoes, go over to the Ola Kai website and take a look. They are donating 100% of proceeds to Maui relief.
  15. Good day at Wimbledon! I'm a fan of Toad & Co, too. So far, it has been an excellent trip report!! Yep, I've seen Toad & Co at REI. If you do the Title Nine website/catalog/store, it usually has it, too.
  16. Melody - you found your style! You look very stylish in those ponchos. The summertime blues definitely have a hold on me. Sigh. OH - we had a light snow overnight up in the high Uintas. It happens off and on this time of year above 12,000 ft. Our neighborhood moose mama finally made an appearance this week. She has 2 babies with her. All 3 are pretty healthy-looking. The neighborhood is posting to our FB site where they are so everyone can keep children and dogs on leash. It's so nice to live with them! My modem is still acting up...
  17. Melissa - have a great time going around Italy. I loved Lucca! Lois - I just looked up those jeans -they are pretty darn nice, I'm in a very bad mood today. I think I slept wrong on my bad shoulder last night and I woke up with my hand in pain, like maybe I pinched a nerve. Ugh. Then, my Internet isn't working -my modem won't stay up. Internet company says their side is OK. No one in the neighborhood is having problems. I don't want to have to go out and buy a modem. Ugh Ugh. I'm feeling off-feed, too. It can't be the shingles shot because that was already a few days ago. Ugh Ugh Ugh, A post in another thread really bothered me and I really had to hold my tongue... I need to go back to bed and restart.
  18. I forgot. I have this one. Wore it to work several times in the Spring. Took it with me to Europe last year. I could wear Tshirts, tanks, long sleeves. And, I actually DID wear it on the plane back home... I have another one in the linen stripe that is brighter but done in linen. Since I wore onsies all the time when I would go skiing for decades, I have no problem with bathroom chores in them. https://fahertybrand.com/products/topsail-straight-overall-railroad-stripe?variant=40414319968325
  19. Well, excuuuuuse me. That actually offends me.
  20. Not that great for wearing on the plane. But, I love jumpsuits & overalls. The jumpsuit is back in fashion. I had a jumpsuit from Banana Republic back in the early 80s pre-aquisition by Gap. Really cool stuff back then. Most of my wardrobe was from there! I STILL have one of the Tshirts.
  21. poster is talking about spring water as apparently has been told by MD that he/she must only drink spring water, not filtered. So, I guess the 'free' water is not for them,
  22. Melody - I enjoyed the pics from your trip. Your wedding outfit looks wonderful. Did you all "feed" the dragons some cash? I heard that when you feed them, it brings good luck. I finally got shingles shot #2 yesterday. I kept spacing on it. I bought some of my "comfort" foods to nosh on just in case I start to feel lousy. 22 hours in, so far, so good (knock on wood). OOTD: denim shorts and a Tshirt.
  23. If you want an ankle-length casual pant, look at Pact. Organic cotton. I've got shirts and wide legged pants from them and I loved them for travel. The ankle length just showed up in my FB feed a few days ago: https://wearpact.com/women/apparel/all bottoms/airplane tulip hem pant/wa1-wng-mnv?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=loy&utm_campaign=MAID2324&utm_content=6370623710513-6368473368713&fbclid=IwAR32bCnQ2gTww7Ctcx_feOIMGzY81BytDy727yUEVqNVIOwc2TdFA9SpZpo
  24. "Eating local" is a big part of all of my vacations, land or sea. I'll never run back to a ship for a meal.
