  1. Yes, he narrates. and, now you make me jealous. Rome again. In case you need/want any last minute thing for vacations, REI is having a sale. Never know what you’ll find! Warm (upper 70s) and sunny. Think I’ll do a little trail walk behind the house. Town is crazy busy with 4th of July tourists already. Market shelves stripped bare. OOTD: Free People outdoor shorts, Cotopaxi SPF shirt (I’m still ghost white), and my newest pair of Merrill boots (bought with my 50% off birthday coupon from Sweatty Betty) just to get some wear. Because it’s sunny, l’ll add a hat.
  2. I take one of my quiver of daypacks ( I have a big plastic bin full), lately it’s been a Cotopaxi Batac 16. They come in a plethora of color combinations so they are definitely not bland. It does all - personal item, beach bag, pool bag. In Alaska it was my all day around town bag. I have a small black bag from Sherpani, the Prima, that is just big enough for my wallet, phone and glasses. If it’s casual, like Alaska, I have a small Cotopaxi hip bag that I can put in my daypack or carry as a sling. on another note: Crystal - I just noticed you moved to SE Utah. How do you like it? You were in Reno before, right?
  3. Cable went out for a few hours late afternoon. No TV, no internet. Decided to start listening to another book. Did “Taste” my Stanley Tucci. Really enjoying it. It’s a memoir and some recipes to boot. So calming that I fell asleep about 2 hours in! I‘ll have to rewind a little! I miss that show. saw a blurb today about Amal Clooney rocking a pair of white sneakers. I don’t feel like quite the unsexy person now 😉😸 OOTD: my slightly too big jean shorts, my Smokey Bear T-shirt and my trail runners.
  4. 11x19x9. Cotopaxi Allpa 28L bag. I used to have the Mother load series bags but I am now in love with Cotopaxi. I go with ”Del Dia” ones so I can pick colors - no one confuses them with theirs! I did my month in Europe with the 35L last year. The 28 I use as my weekend bag and my camping bag. https://www.cotopaxi.com/products/allpa-28l-travel-pack?variant=39552908230717
  5. I worked at a winter resort that also did summer ops. We had a zip line. We had a strict weight limit and would weigh people if they appeared to be near the limit. The zip line we had was one that had a built in brake. If too heavy the brakes would not stop properly. Every day we’d send down a weighted sack to be sure the brakes were correct. The weight limit is there for your safety. Vanity isn’t an option.
  6. It’s a tart cherry liquor made here in Utah. Wasatch Blossom by New World Distillery. Local tart cherries. Melody - nice looking outfit. Would be good for a cruise, too. Dentist was quick and painless. No numbing shot. He said he would if I wanted but it was a short procedure. He dug/drilled out the temp, cleaned it out, dried it and placed the inlay. It is a perfect fit! In and out in 20 minutes. No pain at all but for a very mild fleeting hit when he dried it. I still have to do soup and smoothies for a week to let the inlay and tooth settle in. At least I don’t have to deal with “Novocain mouth” this time! hit up tj’s for some soup and other goodies. They had the Horchata ice cream in stock again so I bought some to get me through the week 😉. Some pantry staples and that was it. OOTD: free people embroidered jeans ( one of the owner hand me downs), blue Henley T-shirt, and my pink hitops. I cleaned them so they are good for the summer.
  7. The tart cherry spritz was good! More intense flavor than the Aperol. It’s going in my spritz arsenal for the summer. I go back to the dentist tomorrow to get the inlay installed. Just when I stopped biting my cheek ☹️ and eating more than soup and pasta, I’ll be doing that again. Ugh. Outfit of tomorrow: cloudy and upper 60s so probably some jeans, T-shirt and my high tops. Not very polished or sexy, but, hey, it’s the dentist (and he’s married) 😉
  8. Please give us the dimensions of your current luggage. And, what requirements are you referring to? I don’t know of any for ships, but your airline may have weight and oversized guidelines.
  9. At that price point, Marmot PreCip jackets are a great buy. Had mine for 10 years of hard use before I retired it this year for a Patagonia Torrentshell.
  10. If anyone is looking for fleece or down, Cotopaxi has a nice sale going on. Made myself a Hugo spritz last night. Meh. Not much taste to it, even with the mint. If someone doesn’t like others, it might be a good starting point. My next one will be made with local tart cherry liquor. It sounds interesting. Doing some kitchen work. Pack up some of my old dishes so I can put out my new ones. After having the same service for 8 since 1988, I decided to change up. Don’t need stuff for 8, anyway. If I get a group, they’ll be served on paper plates!
  11. No judgement. Just call me an old hippy lady who is confident in my skin and choices in clothing and footwear. I’m not on the prowl so no need to look sexy. Traveling solo it is best to not do that! 😉
  12. For those interested in trying some of the Merino wool clothes that we talk about: Today is the last sale day on Woolx. 21% off. SUMMER21 is the code. Try a shirt. Splurge for a dress. Get leggings for winter. Just sayin’.
  13. FYI. Today is the last sale day on Woolx. 21% off. SUMMER21 is the code. Try a shirt. Splurge for a dress. Get leggings for winter. Just sayin’. Toblerone - it is sad to see what is happening to San Francisco. It was such a wonderful walkable city. When I worked remotely for a Bay Area IT company, I would always rack on a day in The City when I did my monthly visit to the “Mothership”.
  14. FYI. Today is the last sale day on Woolx. 21% off. SUMMER21 is the code. Try a shirt. Splurge for a dress. Get leggings for winter. Just sayin’.
  15. Anita, I don’t have a Wool& dress. I did buy the dress from Woolx for last summer’s journey. It saved me over there in that 100+ temperatures. They came out with a gray one last winter and I got that one, too. Put some leggings under both and they were good to wear when it was cold. True four season dresses. They came out recently with a sleeveless dress, but I don’t have a need for it.
  16. I wonder if Whole Foods would at least have cartons of water. All the WF stores I visit here below the Southern Border have them.
  17. Anita - I just knew that was a Wool& dress! if you want a low shoe, look at Josef Seibel. The Rosalie 42 keeps popping up on my FB feed. I don’t need more shoes, but if I did, I’d try this on. Comes in black and other colors.
  18. Man, you all are getting battered in CO this month. My friend posted another photo today of more hail. She said good thing the roofers didn’t start yet.
  19. I’m not a sweet or “foo foo” drinks, also. But I cannot stand a dirty martini. Probably because I am not a salter. When I cook only pasta water gets salted. I saw a thing today for new spritz recipes. One was a dirty Aperol spritz. Maybe you could make that one…
  20. I bought Joy Walker rain cover on Amazon. Like $12 or so. Folds up into the small provided pouch, about the size of a scarf. more rain coming this evening. Had hail earlier in the week and weekend but only pea size. Nothing like you had in CO. My friend in Aurora has to get some siding replaced and a new roof from the baseball hail the other week. ootd: my free people hand-me-down jeans, my pink high tops and my “don’t pet the fluffy cows” T-shirt. My new fave! An homage to those tourists who feel the need to try to pet the buffaloes.
  21. My answer would most be the same. I thought it rather rude that a poster was trying to equate a food fascination to obesity. Absurd. The plates that I take a photo of are the same ones and size that anyone would get. Does that imply we are all fat? I also get a perverse pleasure out of sending my “food porn” to friends 😸.
  22. Cynthia- if you want to get a rain cover for your Osprey, you can find them on Amazon cheap. I think I’m finally over what was making me feel yucky the past week. Didn’t feel like eating and then I’d feel queasy the rest of day. only low 60s today and windy so I’m not going up to the mountains again today. OOTD: sweatshirt and leggings. I didn’t close the living room window last night. This morning it was 54 in here.
  23. Food is a big component of my vacations. I’m not obese. I enjoy sampling foods from different places. I take photos of my food because I want to be able to remember the moment. I can look up a photo of the Eiffel Tower or the Colosseum, but not so easy to look up the off-menu secundo I had at a little mom & pop trattoria. Plus, when I recommend a restaurant, I do like to include a photo of the food. I also take copious photos at all the markets I visit. Different stokes, I guess,
  24. I got over the shoe thing in 2007, after I shattered my leg. I had some flats, but I mostly lived in sneakers. Morphed to all sneakers/hikers/trail runners after having to wear “nice” shoes for work at the hotels. Now, I am a 90% sneakers/hikers/trail runners person. Only took my pink high tops and my white low mesh sneakers to Europe last year. No one screamed in horror when I wore one or the other with my dresses, even to dinner. I don’t think of them as “sensible” anymore, but fun and funky. At my age, I’ve earned the right to dress fun and funky and not care what people think. I actually see more and more “mature” women wearing fun clothes and doing the fun hair colors. My day to go up to the mountains today was rained out. Maybe tomorrow. Thursday it’s my visit to my stylist. After feeling very “off feed” for the past 4 days, I am feeling better today. LC continues to be a pain to me.
