  1. To add to Cruisemom: just about everyone wants to be the first off the ship to catch a train to a flight or something. 2-4000 people won't be able to get off within a couple of minutes of the "all clear". I'd take that later flight, then not fight the scrum of all the people trying to get to the airport.
  2. Last summer, I stayed in St Germain des Pres. Totallly loved the area. Easy walking to everything, at least I thought so. Another CC'er had booked this hotel for her cruise and I trust her judgement. It was the Hotel Des Marrionners. It was a cute small Parisian/European style hotel.
  3. I would love to do that T/A, but my Winter work season begins that week...
  4. the shorts aren't too short to be seen, but just the nasty color combination goes beyond even what I'd wear in public!!! HOT today through the weekend up here. I sure won't be going anywhere unless it's to sit in some A/C. I may start thinking about what kind of trip to take next year in the off season. Now that I have my new MacBook, surfin' the 'Net for ideas may be a good indoor activity. Once again, my hamster wheel in my brain is already spinning with ideas - beach and cities in Spain, beach in Puglia or Calabria, renting a van and drive around Iceland, rent a van and drive around Atlantic Canada... Be prepared to deal with my obsession 😸 OOTD: neutral Athleta shorts, an old pink and tan tie dye tank top.
  5. They actually come in a trail runner, too. I actually have a pair of all 3 - Moab Speed (the runner), Moab 3 low, and Moab 3 mid. I haven't had a pair of Keens in a couple of years. My friend wasn't sure what she would really need on the Camino so she chose to take them. After doing it last year, she knows she won't need them,
  6. I enjoyed the Crispy Duck in Tamarind. Otherwise, I enjoyed putting together my own salad using the salad bar, fish or chicken from the grill, and some of the little side salads. That is what makes the Lido my go-to for meals.
  7. Zevo is one of those "natural" sprays that kills bugs but doesn't hurt animals. I'll have to try Borax in a couple of days - we may have rain in a few.
  8. Welcome! We really did start out as a way to keep sane during the Pandmic and shutdown. Now that traveling is back, we've gone to chatting about al things traveling, food, clothes, etc. Feel free to come back and chat! Lois - the mammogram place may want to establish a baseline. My imaging place had me come back in 6 months to take a look again. Now, it's once a year. I saw it's HOT down in your area - it has to be HOT for someone in Florida to say it's HOT!!! We're hot up here, too. The Valley has been at 100+ for days and days. We're in the mid-80s-90 here. It always feels 10 degrees hotter. "I remember" back when there was maybe 1 week in August when we'd get this hot. No A/C, only ceiling fans, and it was enough. Not anymore up here. Not doing anything today except keep up my fight against my patio ants. Trying to avoid Raid since Squirrel hangs out, but the Zevo isn't working for more than a day. Any good ideas??? OOTD: Brown Free People hiking shorts & green Hobie Surfboards Tshirt. Looks hideous, but only me, Squirrel and the birds will see it!
  9. I fortunately have not been afflicted with the need to buy "cruise wear." Sure, I buy new stuff when I'm taking a vacation, cruise, trip, etc. But, if I can't wear it in my normal life at home, I don't get it. 90% of the time. I did buy a dress last Spring to wear to my grand niece's Summer wedding and I haven't worn it since. But that's not a usual thing. I still haven't seen a "sundress" rack at a store... 😉
  10. It took 90 minutes, but the guy at the Apple Store Genius Bar got my old MacBook working so we could transfer everything over to my new Air. I just have to set some things up again and do some new adjustments. I feel much better now. Just did a very fast run into TJs and picked up a dinner salad and some tortillas. I just didn't feel like dealing with it today. Just too hot down here in the Valley. I will say that my Woolx Mia Tshirt was perfect! It feels like nothing on at all. Just another ad for Woolx... Anita - I'll grab some peanuts in the shell next time I'm at the market for Squirrel. OOTD: jeans shorts, Woolx Mia Tshirt, high tops. Had my hair pulled back in a pony to help combat the heat.
  11. You need to get out more often! Not all hoodies are the standby sweatshirt type. Even those can be bought in sizes to fit up to enormously baggy. And, they are made in a plethora of colors. I know W. and Central PA is largely rural (I grew up near Altoona), hoodie sweatshirts and jeans seem to be the norm.
  12. I have all sorts of hoodies. Sweatshirt hoodies, wool sweater hoodies, thin sunscreen hoodies, thin wool hoodies, sleeveless hoodies... I have hoodies that are nice enough to wear at work. What I saw in Alaska - mostly the sweatshirt hoodies.
  13. I was ignored at Tamarind on my Eurodam cruise the first week of May. I took the later seating. Took a few minutes for someone to come and greet me at the desk. I was seated at one of the 2tops in the center of the room - no biggie since all the booths were taken. BUT then all the servers and such just kept walking past me. It wasn't busy, so no reason for it. This went on for quite awhile - I want to say 15, but I can't remember. Finally, someone who looked like a manager asked me if I was asked for a drink choice and I replied that no one had stopped by yet for anything. She apologized and walked away. A couple minutes one of the servers finally came over and started the process. Once she did, everything went smoothly and as it should. When one couple seated at the window left, the server asked if I'd like to go over to that table so I could finish and watch the sunset. I guess that was their way of apologizing for the initial ignoring.
  14. that's why I said "if it's absolutely necessary" that they do the tour.
  15. Could be. Doro Hindze Madry. Man, I'm messing up my login/settings. From way back, I've had 2 Apple IDs, one that I've used for my machines and one for iTunes (now Apple Music). I keep trying to set it right, but it will bounce back to on or the other. I'll have to ask tomorrow. And, I'm hoping that my iCloud account is going right and access to everything is getting synced!!! It's taking a loooong time. Now, I have to get used to typing on a MacBook again after using my iPad since April!! My eyes will like it, I'm sure.
  16. So pay for it now with the other two...
  17. She’s the one who lives in Aurora. She goes up in the mountains almost everyday and does 6-14 miles. She’ll get up there around 5am and goes from there. If she doesn’t go up in the hills, she’ll walk around some big reservoir and then go do an hour of weights and yoga. Next year she says she’s doing some major hiking up in the Swiss Alps. She’s from Germany, I guess she was raised hiking. I found a surprise in my Apple bag today. My sales guy stuck a $150 gift card in there! And he gave me the student discount on the Mac. He said we’re all still learning in the School of Life 😸. Nice kid. Trying to set the new Mac up and running. I messed up 1 thing that I have to go back and redo, but no biggie. I’m doing the iOS upgrade now before I go further.
  18. Well, if they say they need 2 more, set up 2 more “people “ for your group. Then, they have to not show up but you still want to do the tour…
  19. If it’s absolutely necessary for you to do the tour, pay for two ghosts.
  20. When it’s over 90 degrees, no one cares what you wear on your feet. All sorts is trainers/tennies/sneakers you have on - everyone has them on, too! @Photo Andy: the last 5 km of the Camino? Wuss. 😉😉 My retired teacher girlfriend did the entire Spanish Camino last September. Solo. Today she left to go do the entire Portuguese Camino. She takes her Hoka sneaks and Keen hiking shoes. Took her Merrill boots last year but decided she didn’t need them.
  21. I saw a little thing on CNN last night about the top 5 things bought during Prime Days: two were AirPods and the little rug cleaner that I bought. Another one was some brand of lipstick. Fire stick was big, too. Can’t remember the fifth. Drove down to the valley to the Apple Store to buy a new MacBook. I couldn’t decide at home between the Air and Pro so I wanted to talk to someone about it. Always had a Pro, but that started when they had a Cd/mp3/dvd built in. Ended up with the new Air. Same chip as the Pro. Now I have to go back tomorrow and have a geek get my old one started up so I can pull some things off of it. It was hot down there, upper 90s so I didn’t dawdle. Maybe long enough tomorrow to do a quicker at TJs. Squirrel looked particularly cute yesterday. I still can’t believe he hangs out on my back drain pipe. It’s been since January. Must like the sunflower and pumpkin seeds from TJs that I give him for breakfast!🐿️
  22. So we may all feel unable to pack… one of my girlfriends just left today for an 8 week trip to Europe. Germany (to visit friends), Spain, and Portugal. She’s solo on this. Part of her trip is walking/hiking the Portuguese trail of the Camino (around 600 Kms). Last year she did the Northern part, something like 700 km. The left with her rolling carry on size bag at 12 kg and her pack at 6 kg ( has to keep light because she’ll also be carrying lots of water.). The pack is what she’ll use on the Camino. She’s a beast!!!
  23. That’s why I have my Bose. My right ear insides are small. And that’s the one that is always very stuffed. I always had issues with keeping something in that ear. To me the AirPods are the same design as the corded EarPods that came with iPhones. The AirPod Pros look to have a different ear profile.
  24. I forgot. If you want to use your AirPods or another Bluetooth headphones with a plane’s entertainment system, get on Amazon before the end of the day and buy a Bluetooth adapter for plane use. That way you don’t have to use those nasty earphones the airline hand out. There are a few in the Prime Day sale. Have the 1Mii 5.3. I got it on sale a little while ago. It’s small and has a charger box so it’s a small footprint. Yes, more expensive, but I liked the specs.
  25. I forgot until I opened my package today - I also got a new Echo Dot with clock. Mine is one of the originals and the sound was getting bad. I like to fall asleep to either music or BBC Overnight on my local radio station and it just wasn’t very good anymore. It came already attached to my Alexa account with all the network info so all I had to do was plug it in. Nice! I bought AirPods last year. I use them when using my Bose headphones aren’t practical. My right ear isn’t fond of in ear headphones.
