  1. I would say this. Never had an issue with the DND sign or the new red code on the screen. In fact, I tried to tell housekeeping to come in do something one port day and I was setting the code to red as we did not need service from Stewart. But I was told they would not come in, so had to leave it alone and then just advised steward verbally we didn't need anything. He wouldn't come in either when it was red even though I told him too. Perhaps "the system" registers if they violate a red sign and they get hauled on the proverbial carpet.
  2. Not really. Our elder daughter is a TW and there is still a need for them even if PCL has no clue.
  3. Not sure I understand the remark. We are not going on this voyage if that is what you meant. Sorry, not getting it.
  4. But you might have been able to make an educated guess that it was a woman if you knew anything about the show. 😉
  5. Yes, true. SD has always been smart casual. That said, I have seen some tables dressed semi-formally at least on non-formal nights as I imagine they were making it an occasion for themselves.
  6. We have not been on a ship with it, but assuredly we will go there when the opportunity arises. You may have missed them, but every post on this forum I have read that mentions Catch by Rudi has included a positive experience.
  7. That sounds correct. You could save aggravation and just purchase the additional plan on board.
  8. Out of the group from Dallas, I think it would be quite interesting to hear from Linda Gray as I really respected her as an actress. I think she was very good on the show and of course she would have worked closely with Larry Hagman.
  9. Did you tip when it was free? PCL seems to always have a baked in gratuity amount with dining locales, so I would presume it to be the same for a la carte items.
  10. I think you should go with your first instinct and past practice. I don't give much credence to random unknown posters on internet. Your poster also ended up paying less money than the asked-for CA amount. Doesn't sound to me like they were trying to help the crew out at all.
  11. IDK why you would be looking to tip the MD (now DRO) who is quite removed generally from your dinner service. I'd be more inclined to reward the two waiters. If a HW does something extra for you, then I would consider that. Even a DR Mgr is up the chain for tips. Example: On a ship last Fall, he made extra effort to get us setup for same table each night and moved us on request. He refused any money I wanted to give him. In this case, he got complimented for providing the TD experience that Princess promises but must be asked for. As for cabin steward, how much do we suppose of the $16 is allocated to the hotel staff versus DR staff, etc? I don't have any guidance there other than what you are comfortable with and based on services provided. Did you ask for a lot of extra things? Is the cabin often messy for them to clean up? Not applicable to your situation I gather, but is it a cabin where the sofa bed or bunks are used, so there is extra work?
  12. I wouldn't overthink a 2-night voyage. Going to be lots of party animals I figure. Just pick one that has cabins in deck above and below and you should be fine.
  13. Only if they are giving out pagers for walk-ups.
  14. All meals when DR is open. If you have noticed, the one DR open for breakfast and lunch is the one with Reserve/Club dining.
  15. Probably, our thoughts go to guests missing ship in Caribbean and then may look to island hop to catch ship as long as it was not final port before Port Everglades. Is this what you meant, @voljeep? We have all seen You Tube videos of folks in beach attire running for a ship. IDK if any of them are members here or would admit their folly.
  16. In that case in the past, the passengers did not spend a night off the ship.
  17. It was useful for you to post the Fare Codes. Those are guest-specific codes that not every person can get. Princess will have put this offer out to a selected market segment. If eligible, I imagine those folks will receive similar notice by email or snail mail. Also, if anyone uses or has access to a 3rd party booking engine (typically external travel agencies or travel providers), you can login and shop a cruise and see if the above Fare Codes are in the eligible list. But I do think you would know from a notice from PCL. ETA: the last time PCL did this, the money was Non-Refundable OBC that could be spent on anything and not just excursions.
  18. Princess was the guinea pig trial for Medallion Class concept. I believe the idea was to migrate it across other CCL brands. The head of HAL is probably saying NOT US!
