  1. There is a point though. We took years to get to Diamond, and the total cost in QG was nearly £100K. Others arrive there after spending less than £5K. You would think that any business would recognise their high spending customers, but Cunard only recognises bums on seats. Years ago, there was talk of a Crystal top tier, but it never happened.
  2. Seen it often. Even watched a couple who were sitting at the bar in the GLP, go frequently up to the Lido and return with coffees. They bought nothing in the bar.
  3. Wheelchair users always get priority anyway, so just turn up when it suits you.
  4. Apologies! I stand corrected. Soon everyone will have priority embarkation.
  5. That's nonsense! The same happened to me and when I called, they added the US WC membership to the UK one without any difficulty. She should speak to someone further up the food chain.
  6. Similar thing happened to us a few years ago when we were directed to the wrong holding area. It wasn't until the two ladies sitting beside us took out their packed lunch to eat that I realised the mistake. Obviously they weren't head for the Grills for lunch, so I checked and discovered that we were in the Diamond area not QG. That was quickly changed!
  7. You just skip the big Disney style queue and get the first free counter.
  8. Ocean Terminal has a small shop with teas, coffees and drinks but it was closed last November.
  9. Last November we were kept in the QG holding area until 1:00pm. They blamed the Port Authority. Our check in time was 12:30pm.
  10. We've done this trip several times and will be doing so again in August. The ferry service to Wall Street is quick and (I think) only $2.75 each way. We always end up getting a yellow cab back to Court Street in Brooklyn. We like a little Italian restaurant called Queen. We use the local taxi service, Aricibo and they are very reasonable.
  11. When we were on in November 99% of men wore dinner suits and 100% in the Grills. "A formal suit, shirt, and tie of any colour will also do just fine for Gala Evening" Can't find any reference to "slacks and a jacket".
  12. Shouldn't make any difference.

    QV

Last November we were offered their fizz instaed of the cocktail party. It was cheap Spumante. We declined.
  14. On QM2, which is ther most formal, I'm afraid he will be in the minority without a dinner suit. We've crossed the Pond about 10 or 12 times in QG and I don't ever remember any men NOT wearing a dinner suit on a Formal/Gala night. Certainly with a dark suit, he will be dress code compliant, but.......
  15. There used to be a free Galley tour. I could never understand why anyone would want to go and look at pots and pans and cookers. Why not just go for a walk around John Lewis department store?
  16. Denims are acceptable during the day, even for afternoon tea. At 6:pm it all changes. A dark suit is acceptable instead of a dinner suit.
  17. On one occasion on QM2, we popped in to the Concierge Lounge to ask for Planetarium tickets, but they were all gone. I said we would try earlier next time and left. Two days later, the next showing, 2 tickets were delivered to our room. The strange thing is that I hadn't even told them our names or room number.
  18. Probably 95% of pax respect the dress code. It's easier to say where you CAN go. If you're not able to comply, then maybe you're on the wrong shipping line.
  19. Sorry, I was referring to QG. My mistake.
  20. Don't know what you call it, but it was certainly the FPO in full swing.
  21. They're definitely on QV in bathroom. I find them annoying and have to turn the thing away when I'm at the sink.
  22. It's really not a good idea. A few years ago my wife and I went on a two week trip on Ventura primarily to visit our daughter who was a "Headliner". I went off on walkabout one day, and, on the basis that you can't hit a moving target, changed bars a few times. Imagine my horror when I got a tap on the shoulder to find my wife and daughter standing behind me. I asked how they managed it. My daughter explained that it was easy and that she had shown my wife that all she needed to do was to go to the big screen and check our account to find where I bought my last beer. Be careful what you wish for!!!
