  1. As we always go for breakfast at 8:00am, we ask the butler and room steward to make up our room as early as possible and normally, it's done before we come back. Las November on QE, we were waiting in our room until disembarking time and noticed our butler and stewart "hovering", but they were waiting to get into our room. We told them just to ignore us and make a start, which they did. They also got a wee extra thank you.
  2. If you have that type of problem, then you need to ensure that you don't fill yourself with liquid before sitting down. At certain dinners, you are simply not allowed to leave the table before the meal is finished.
  3. I don't know what's worse; going to the toilet halfway through a meal, or using a phone.
  4. They put up a lot of decorations and such things as the gingerbread village, during the night.
  5. Usually first week in December
  6. You get any 2 litres of your choice. Be nice to your butler and if you get low, the bottles will be replaced. Even on the last day!
  7. I beg to differ! I would certainly NOT take a Cunard trip in Rome. The private tour that I described can be cheaper and more reliable (if there are 6 of you) and I've recommended a well known and reputable company that specialises in exactly this type of excursion. Neither I nor anyone we know has ever been let down by this company. You will also see a lot more and won't have to wait on a queue of old ladies when you make a pit stop.
  8. Cunard trips are quite expensive, so you can sometimes do better by yourself. Rome: Cunard trips are slow, expensive and too rigid. Have a look at https://www.discoveryguidedtours.com/ the boss is Gilberto Stanzioni who is fluent English. They can cater for 2 - 8 in cars or Viano. They'll put togather a day that you decide and organise tickets etc.. Used them 3 times and so have other friends. Ideal number is 6 people. On one occasion, there was a massive traffic jam and the Cunard trips were stuck for hours. We just nipped around the back streets and saw everything that we wanted. Put it on Roll Call and see if anyone wants to team up. That's what we did and it worked great. Dubrovnik: Walk the wall and visit some bars and restaurants. Trieste: Venice is less than an hour by train. Check Trenitalia.com for times and prices. In Venice. Gondolas are not cheap and you only go round a block. Best just walk the city. Barcelona: You can get a HoHo bus near the docks (as suggested), but stick to the tourist areas and don't take valuables. Palma: We walked it. Can't comment on the rest. We'll be back around the Med in 2025 on QM2, and be doing some of the ports again. Have fun!
  9. How long is a bit of string? There are many types of tours ranging from low price walking ones to full day with lunch. It very much depends on the activities. However, Cunard is not cheap, only convenient. What are your ports of call? If we know this, then we might be able to give you specific advice.
  10. We do Soton - London Euston every trip, but not in the rush hour. It normally takes less than 2 hours, but I would allow an exgra half hour (at least) due to heavy traffic.
  11. What is the room number that the dog is in please? We will be on board in 9058 for the round trip in 3 weeks.
  12. Last November, when I entered the lift, there was a ady standing beside the buttons and kindly asking everyone which floor. When it was my turn, I said gthat i'll just pop my card in first. She said that's not necessary and pushed and pushed at No 11. Then she said there must be something wrong. Again I told her that I would just pop my card in. Hey Presto!
  13. As long as it's a black tie and black cummerbund if worn.
  14. Only about 10% (<250) follow the themes, apart from B & W as Victoria2 stated. Mostly they are the ballroom dancers and audience.
  15. Can't imagine cast members wanting to act as hosts immediately after two performances. When not performing, they still rehearse every day, and spend time in the gym. It's pretty much full on. Our daughter did it for two years.
  16. I always have EB on my first morning in QG. It's my tradition.
  17. Although we always travel in QG, we always take 5 or 6 bottles of the Widow for our room. Bring whatever you like!
  18. You've hit the nail on the head! If you want to rent a dinner suit, there is no guarantee they will have your size. For the same price as renting, you can buy a new low price dinner suit at a variety of retailers. For example, Marks and Spencer have them around £100. Donate it after use if you like. Please don't spend $000's on the trip, then miss the best bits because of a few dollars.
  19. As I've mentioned previously, the local taxi company is Arecibo. They're also the cheapest. Walk away from the terminal, check your location which is marked on the fencing, then call them and tell them where you are. They'll give you a set price for the journey.
  20. ...and if you can tie your shoe laces, you can tie a bow tie.
  21. They do specify that all drinks are single measures and wine is a small one.
