  1. Our last HAL cruise was about 35% full and everybody masked up etc. We now have a T/A booked. What’s it like now? Full staff, dancing, Pub crawls and good times or still in ‘Caution Mode’??
  2. Nobody REALLY cares where the guests lay their head on a pillow, be it a minute or an hour. It’s moreso a legality thing I suspect, so keep the perks where they best benefit your entire group. We did a similar arrangement a few yrs. ago.
  3. ‘Innocents Abroad’ by Mark Twain. No contest. (Or any Travel book by Paul Theroux)
  4. I agree. Peddling Non-HAL excursions and tours seems tacky when done aboard a HAL ship
  5. Exactly. Once I actually BOARD a cruiseship it’s good. Getting to that point is the problem.
  6. Always curious: Is Indigenous the same as ‘I was here first’. Rum n Pineapple juice sounds good.
  7. JAVA. Sailed on a decrepit Chandris vessel from Perth to Singapore in 1973 thru Sundas Straits. Steamy and Hot, damn hot… Smoking volcanoes. My father did likewise in 1943.
  8. I can’t resist: Whirlpool just bought Insinkerator for $3/Billion. BILLION.
  9. Hmm. On our 15/day in Feb. the event for 4 and 5-star was 1 hour of drinks next to the Casino. The actual Cruisecritic thingie was me myself and I and 2 no-shows. We organized a few in years past of 100+.
  10. Wondering if the Staff even sets up for such a thing Post-Covid.
  11. Are the Meet-Greets a thing of the past? Nothing on our 15/day Carribbean in Feb. 2022.
  12. Thousands of people. Close quarters, long duration, elderly occupants, shared facilities, previous domiciles unknown, co-morbidities. Am I missing anything??😹😹
  13. Every Cruise line has Websites that give the number of passengers. Every one.
  14. I envision us Int’l cruisers carrying a little ‘Library Card’ showing our Vax history AND our most recent Neg. test.
  15. Never. Long Int’l cruises to ‘outbreak destinations’ (and maybe for the elderly) will have testing. YELLOW FEVER Vax comes to mind.
  16. She played with that $90-some bucks for about 2/hrs then cashed out nicely.
  17. So… How do you explain this: Wife put in about $90-100 in a slot machine and cashed out $1100. Done for the cruise. Coupla months later got a ‘Free 14-day Cruise for 2 plus free drinks’. She took the offer. A mindless Algorithm or ‘please come back, we want our $Money$ ?? I dunno…
  18. Not really Protocol but logistics. Practically, all departing passengers need to be physically OFF the ship first no matter what stateroom Suite. Yes, as a 4-star, we and Suites can board first, but it’s a matter of housekeeping logistics, thus we seem to walk aboard together. We prefer arriving about 1/pm and going to the 4/star line. Enjoy!! Comprende??
  19. We have done that itinerary. Veranda on the Port (Left) side much sunnier of course. Brisk between Spain and Madeira but no storms. Pleasantly warm to Florida. Our ship had retractable Pool roof.
  20. Currently, prior to getting ABOARD a Holland-America vessel in Italy means we have to be tested at a pharmacy in Rome. Liquor?? I dunno, but easy to look up their rules on their Web-site.
  21. Always curious if a quick pop up from a very low price is simply a coupla ‘hit n run’ deep -pocket daytraders, and it signifies not much of anything fundamental
  22. Watch a coupla YouTube videos or get a tech-savvy person to walk you through a few sessions with their friend. Thats what we did.
