  1. Exactly. I travel with my newbie (older) sister. We tried the lanyard way. It was just one more item to check off as we left the cabin. You know the routine: phone, hearing aids, mask, glasses, medallion, etc. She always wore her watch. Made getting on and off the ship a breeze! No more digging through her backpack for the lanyard. I have a few more gizmos that have clips on one end for the medallion/holder and something on the other end that attaches to your garment. But the watch attachment simplified the process. Mahalo to @Elua for sharing this idea with me.
  2. I asked the customer service agent on the Diamond, politely, in March 2023. He asked me how many tokens I would like. Ironically, the washer was broken (needed one more) and the dryer took forever (4 needed). I did declare I was elite (he never checked).
  3. Thank you @Thrak. Now, that makes absolutely no sense. I guess I spell out the names from now on. Thanks for the simplistic list (verses hunt and peck on a thread).
  4. I stand corrected: CB = Caribbean Princess.
  5. Suite laundry: In by 9 AM returned after dinner same day (express). It is safer to leave your laundry bag on the bed before you head for dinner. On occasions, my steward had not picked up the bag in my room/by my door, and deliver to laundry before 9 AM if I left it out the same day. Once, steward did not notice Express box checked. It was placed in the regular laundry bin.
  6. Welcome to Cruise Critic where you will find all of your answers and much much more.
  7. The old app is already not functioning for certain sections. I only uploaded new app to my ipad. Old app on phone is a hit and miss (lots of misses). No worries, cruise is not for a few more months....right ? # !
  8. At one time, it was the Emerald, then the Crown, or the Ruby, or the Grand/Diamond. Pick your ship and someone will have negative reviews about it: Noro, Covid, buffet, etc. (I can't speak for Royal class ships since I won't book them). I have been on the Caribbean Princess twice in 2023. I did catch covid over a 13 day cruise (expected over longer cruises). My fault for being more lacks with my masking. Still, all went well. Princess has no responsibility for missing ports due to weather. I was once on a ship that missed ever port and replaced it with one that I did not even get off the ship (San Diego) on a 4 day cruise. If you have trepidations regarding cruising on the CP again, I would look for a different ship/cruise line.
  9. Amendment: I want to thank the poster that recommended using a pre-paid card. I have been searching my home for such a card. Finally found a digital one for $5. Applied it to my shoreside account. Accepted and still 7 out of 7. Brilliant.
  10. Caved....and re-authorized credit card on Shoreside purchases. Back to 7 out of 7 steps completed. Medallion order still in place. This is so insane !
  11. Accomplished. Credit card deleted from shoreside. Casualty….dropped from 7 to 6 steps completed. Now what? My Medallion won’t be shipped? I will be denied boarding?
  12. Welcome to Cruise Critic. Unfortunately, Princess does not offer a “captains table dinner”. The Sky Princess has a few alternative (for $) dining options.
  13. I agree, I am totally confused about shoreside. Am I automatically enrolled or do I have to hit the + button? Is there anyway to undo linking it to shoreside? Or is this a “glitch”?
  14. Go ahead and make reservations for 4. When you get onboard, add the fifth person. I, once was added at the door. it is an accounting issue if you are trying to use complimentary dining for a different use. Depending on who you talk to, “favors” may be rarely granted.
  15. Does Princess currently escort Suite passengers on to the ship at any port? Only happened once at San Pedro for me. As a seasoned cruiser, I thought it was a really nice gesture. Never happened again at any port.
  16. Same thing happened to me last spring. Had to access booking to get QR code for next cruise. Signed on in terminal…bingo. im not crazy about old/new app. Seems like they have more problems than benefits.
  17. I just ran across this thread. Amazing what you can find when you do a Google search. Thanks everyone who are keeping Tom’s memory alive. I have the Southampton guide.
  18. I purchased a dog collar air tag holder from Amazon. It slips onto my Apple Watch band. It’s always with me. Accessories may be slightly more expensive on the ship. If you have the beverage package, do you still need to pay $10 for shipping the accessories? And tax free on the ship.
  19. You can still insert cash into slot machines. You lose it just as fast as if you charge it to your medallion. One of the benefits of charging it to your room is that you may earn points on your credit card when final payment is rendered. I won't discuss the "other" reason.
  20. You were most fortunate. I heard the cruise before you was full. Have a great cruise.
  21. @Ombud Embark Yokohama At Sea Kagoshima - Shuttle to Parking Lot near (Sakurajima) Ferry Building. Walked up the main street to Daiso (Japan's Dollar Store). Jeju - Immigration to disembark. Shuttle dropped us off at Market Place. I think we needed to also do immigration to get back on the ship...maybe at a different port? Nagasaki - Immigration to get off: first port after visiting Korea. Purchased trolley ticket from visitor's center. Walked a couple of blocks to pick up the trolley Aburatsu (Miyazaki) - Shuttle to transportation center. Taxis available if you wanted to do more. Matsuyama - Shuttle to trolley. Walked to Matsuyama Castle to take cable car ride up. Kochi - Took shuttle to transportation center. Walked to Kochi Castle. At Sea Going by memory and photos. Hopes this helps.
  22. FCD has to be booked within the year of purchase date. You may sail after the year is up. The question is: Are you able to transfer the FCD to a different cruise? Will you have to cancel current October 2024 cruise? When does your FCD expire? Are you working through a travel agent?
  23. Took too many shuttles to remember where I was dropped off. Will have to do some research and get back to you. YES...in hind sight, I should have taken a taxi for 2 (cheaper). I was with my sister and it was easier to have a designated pickup and return.
  24. Enjoy your cruise. Check to see what your credit card offers for insurance on the way back. Hopefully you will not have any issues on your return flight. And if so, enjoy the extra vacation time on your insurance $$$.
