Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We were on Splendor in October. Concierge. I emailed Regent with my requests around three weeks out and they were there upon our arrival. Was pleasantly surprised!
  2. YouTube has a great video on Regent SS Splendor Grand Suite 901 (and additional video for 1201).
  3. We were on our first Regent (Splendor) western med trip October 8-21, so no help on your specific ports. However, do bite the bullet and book your excursions and your dining when your time opens up! On tours: you can always cancel and do your own thing or book a non-Regent private tour (as we did in Rome) especially since you will have 4 people to split the cost. If there is an excursion you wanted but it was closed, you can get on the wait list; go to Destination Services once on board to make a switch; or go the theatre right before the excursion on day of and see if there have been cancellations. Best tip: Start reading the Regent comments. I daily started reading the posts before we booked, up until we departed, and I still read them every morning with my coffee! This board answered nearly any question I could dream up and provided loads of tips. If you would like to correspond off the board, please free free to contact me dksuse at comcast dot net Also sign up for your roll call so you can correspond with people on your cruise. Very excited for your trip! You will have a marvelous time. Kimberly
  4. On Splendor in October, we had Ruinart also. We had it night #1 in Prime 7. Humor was when a server backed into the standing ice bucket and whooosh!
  5. Just off of Splendor on a 12 nighter. I chose to book our 3 reservation nights in the first four days on board to see what we liked, then moved on to Compass Rose and Sette Mari for many nights. (Never had a wait and loved Sette Mari!) I visited the F&B manager desk to see if any specialty dining was available around days 9-11. There was some availability if you wanted to share a table; none for a two top. On the last night, we took a chance and showed up at Pacific Rim and got a lovely table for 2 around 8 pm. It was not busy. Had a wonderful last meal!
  6. I was confirming that on Splendor, Oct 8-20 2023, I was told you could not have room service delivered to pool area, as another poster stated they did on a past cruise. On this recent voyage, we did not have any evening poolside dining options/poolside evening buffets. Coming back from excursions many days around 3:30 pm (15:30), the pool grill was the only avenue to get food (other than room service). I feel I had cursed experiences at the pool grill. Food was sometimes not good, and I had little or no service - repeatedly. I was invisible for some reason at that venue! DH probably thought I was being fussy, but even he by the end of our cruise stated "you have had some bad luck." BTW - the service AROUND the pool for drinks while you were lounging was very good and plentiful. As to ordering room service in my room and then taking it to the pool or a different spot, I did not think of that and probably is too much work for me. But whatever works for you to make you happy! 🙂
  7. After terrible service and food at pool grill on Splendor this week, I asked if I could have room service delivered to pool deck. NO.
  8. Good luck. One night early on I asked to try the five or six whites offered in Chartreuse and it seemed to tax the sommelier and staff and he was not happy at all. Overall, we ordered quite a lot from the premium list on our trip, but that is just me. If you have the open tasting, that is great. We did not, so it was a mixed bag. If you find something you like, get it for your suite.
  9. Request the included wine list be sent to your cabin on day 1. That helped me. And they almost always will get any wine from any restaurant. Rarely do you get pushback on a specific wine request.
  10. Just off Splendor. Port intensive cruise. No open tasting event for the included freebie wines. I specifically inquired. YMMV.
  11. We are on Splendor in Concierge. It has a separate shower and tub. I thought I needed a bathtub; however, it is a smaller tub for a taller person. If you get into a higher level suite, they have much bigger tubs (with jacuzzi). Based on what I know now, I would have booked a PH (and done without the tub) or a higher suite and had a great tub!
  12. I am on Splendor now, close to ending a 12 night cruise. I brought a plain black dress (mid calf) and STILL have not worn it. I wear black or navy pants at night with cap toe ballet flats. For tops, I wear nice blouses - some long sleeve, others sleeveless (I do not get cold - but many ladies comment that the public spaces are chilly so a sweater or wrap may be good to have.) I brought two statement necklaces that I mix in and my usual gold chain necklace with a solitare/circle. I have two black solid sweaters that are good for day or night. In fact most things I have I can wear day or night (excepting the yoga pants I am wearing now in Coffee Connection-it is 8 am here- and slim dark jeans that I wear during the day). Hope this helps. You will love your cruise. BTW - my DH did not bring a jacket at my urging, but a lot of men wear one at night and they look divine, in my opinion. But hubbie fits in with a collared shirt and a half zip sweater. Some men wear a only polo shirt to dinner.
  13. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel all small bottles. Plus a bath gel. And a body lotion. I hated the body lotion so bought Elemis at the spa. If products matter to you, I suggest bring your own!! The spa has other scented L'occitane products when you are in the spa.
  14. Yes two sinks yields two bars. The have a little stand for each. But then you have the shower. Your cabin steward will leave you whatever you want, as in an extra bar. Just ask. They are small squares rather than a large bar per US standards.
  15. We are in Concierge currently on Splendor. The alternate to L'Occitane Bergamote (everything) is Vanicream (formerly called Free & Clear). Higher levels will get you Bulgari. I can check with friends who are in a Spendor Suite to verify.
