  1. Don't you think that cruising make those people happier than most other types? Still plenty of variables but not AS many. ?
  2. That's exactly what we love about DIY travel. Getting off the beaten path. Hanging with the locals and eating the local food. So I do a ton of research but always figure out a way to DIY every once in a while.
  3. Bob traveled to Sao Paolo Brazil and wore elastic waist, plaid pants and a coordinating tee. His bag didn't make it until the following day. He was the only one not in a suit 🙂
  4. I've wondered, does the food cool off to the point that it's a negative? It seems it's certainly a longer walk than to the dining table. And under a metal cover could steam it a bit. TIA.
  5. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  6. I only had one bag done once - cotton underwear and the like. It was clean but had a kinda greyish hint to it. I personally would do my good stuff.
  7. Well, that's too bad. Maybe they were cooking for the nonos 🙂 And he didn't even offer to get you something else.
  8. Can't think of our EVER ordering a steak in a restaurant. But if we did and it was undercooked I'd just ask them to throw it on the grill for another one or two minutes.
  9. This isn't a dish I'm familiar with. What made it "actively unpleasant" compared to others of that dish you've had. I'm surprised the restaurant manager didn't offer to remove the dish and bring you something else.
  10. Same with the color of Lake Tahoe. They say that the color of the water is determined by the color of the sky. Not accessible by a boat 🙂
  11. In Jacques the best escargot I've ever put in my mouth. Also there the creme brulee with a tasted pistacio topping. I have photos bug can't find.
  12. I forgot where you're located. We have a lot of good things you have and some of the good things you don't have.
  13. I haven't read this thread before but just had to today. Yes, yes and yes. We used to spend a ton of time in Rio de Janeiro. Can you just imagine the difference between the ship port and Copacabana Beach? Did someone already say basically this? Then my apology.
  14. I call it LCD - lowest common denominator. Feed the masses what they want.
  15. Hmm, I wonder if one could carry a favorite or two spices. I
  16. This link could add a wonderful food to your list. BTW Kenji Lopez.Alt, author of the article, is known for his scientific, rationale approach to food.) https://www.seriouseats.com/foie-gras-new-fire-for-an-old-debate
  17. I have two booking numbers and two different dates for booking specialties.
  18. I could LIVE in Barcelona! And to stay on a ship - any ship - in BARCELONA???? Judge not...but for heaven's sake.
  19. That's funny. I realized that and had intended to come back. Thanks, Harters.
  20. I love good food and I love Google. So I can find places well in advance of traveling. One was a place in Hue, Vietnam, that Bourdain said had the best soup in the world.
  21. Great report and thanks. But you should know that you could have brought on pretty much as much beer, wine and liquor. Despite what their policy says they treat us like grownups and the skies the limit!
  22. It seems like your saying it's not necessarily weather or other uncontrollable things.
  23. In the cooking world I was taught that Rome leaned more to the North than the South. Based on agriculture. I can't imagine ANY milk product in carbonara. There are a gazillion variations but I've never seen cream.
  24. I believe there was someone before me.
  25. I guess it was too late to delete. No shush.
