  1. If you have free at sea you would do MUCH better in terms of price and quality to bring your own wine.
  2. 1. Not worth it, bid on the Haven 2. Just not Moderno 3. Yes, but the ship water is good and you can order bottles. 4. Absolutely justified. At the very least pay to arrive a day early so when you miss one of your three 45 minute connections you can still make the cruise on time.
  3. The long bar line complaints are way overblown. I guarantee that you will be able to find a bar with quick service. That being said, a bartender once gave me all the Guinness he had.
  4. Thanks for this, we are on the Bliss in a couple of weeks for its LA to Vancouver repositioning (we went on it last year as well).
  5. The wine above $15 isn't that great either but the good news is that with any drink package there is no longer a corkage fee when you bring your own wine.
  6. It is currently being installed on the Getaway.
  7. IMO, the best thing is to book your own travel with an airline or alliance on which you have status and the easiest way to deal with irrops is to directly call them on a premium line (there are credit cards that help give you status). If you are at the airport, the next best thing is to get help from the Airline's lounge even if you have to buy a day pass but status will determine where you are in the pecking order for resolution. I had a crazy one once where my SEA-ORD flight went mx ahead of a Swiss flight ending at BCN for the largest mobile industry event in the world. United rerouted me (first leg was UA) and I made it on time but when I showed up for my Swiss return flight they said I no showed and canceled my return (the rerouting was on UA and LH). This was the first day people leave the show and they said the next available was in 3 days. I called the 1K line and after the Swiss gate agent and the United 1K rep yelled at each other for 10 mins the United rep told me to walk to Lufthansa and by the time I got there he would find a way to get me to FRA or MUC. When that was taken care of (no idea how he got me a seat on an extremely oversold flight) he said by the time I get to FRA he would figure out my route back to SEA. I even got a business class upgrade FRA-DEN.
  8. I agree, the entire package is fun but for pretty much everything else but wine 🙂 .
  9. I was talking about OBC value but if you want to go down that path then the Amex Plat or Saphire Reserve is better where you get 5x points and can be used for international business class tix like the ones I got to Porto last fall that saved me $25000.
  10. It is a terrible rewards card anyway, even the Costco card is better for NCL purchases. They should give 5x like most other branded cards.
  11. Yeah, with no corkage fee it makes no sense to get Premium Plus if you just want bottles wines for dinner (or even a glass at the bar). The upgraded glasses and available bottle wines are not that great anyway. Just bring your own from home or stop by Total Wine on the way to the ship.
  12. I carry them in one of those 6 bottle wine bags you get at stores and wineries. There is no corkage fee if you have the free at sea drink package. You will go to someone at a small table who will put "corkage" stickers on the bottles so you can drink them anywhere on the ship.
  13. I would think they or the airline would have to, did they give any options when you were sent the cancel notification?
  14. In my experience people do eat outside, sometimes the weather is nice and seats are generally more available.
  15. I think they should just make them all one color, whatever color represents freestyle the best. Maybe Rainbow?
  16. Cointreau over Grand Marnier for sure, the original Margarita is Tequila, Lime Juice, and Cointreau.
  17. I have a Chase Sapphire Checking Account that I use in foreign countries with no fees charged and any ATM fees reimbursed.
  18. Day passes probably won't be available during sea days, but in my experience the thermal spa is well worth it all week during Alaska cruises.
  19. They will have quite a lot from which you can choose, I don't think you will be disappointed 🙂 .
  20. You can pretty much taste/drink anything that is open or they can open (sorry, no Opus One). We loved the Sommelier at Cellars on the Bliss (Suprakash...he is now on the Prima), he would find interesting wines for us to taste and we would let him taste some of the Washington wines we brought on board.
  21. It is kind of like Moderno, because of limitations they have in their kitchens it will never be as good as a land based restaurant.
  22. I put a Delta Silver luggage tag on my backpack even though I am a Diamond (and Premier when I was 1K) so that people would wonder why I was upgraded and they were not 🙂.
