  1. We have cruised 4 times during Covid all on Silhouette the last 2 in May. We have experienced none of the issues you describe. For MDR I would recommend choosing Select and prebooking every night for your preferred time. Passenger to Crew ratios are often way above the usual on our last cruise 1100 passengers and 1200 crew.
  2. There were around 1100 passengers. Passengers testing positive were either 34 or 37 i.e over 3%. References to CDC Guidance is irrelevant. According to the onboard announcement Celebrity is enforcing it's own "protocols" which at 3% requires the introduction of the measures I detailed.
  3. The boss (Anita) uses ours every sea day for between 2 and 4 hours. We are always on deck 7 and when we look along the ship practically every balcony is unoccupied. Same goes for sail aways almost noone is on their balcony.
  4. Perfect for people who like the idea of a balcony but don't actually use it i.e. you get a bigger inside spacen, a window that opens (albeit with the Aircon turned off), chairs with low backs that don't recline, and a tiny table. In short totally useless for the way we use our balcony cabin.
  5. The same rules apply to e cigarettes. On S Class also somoking in one section of the outside on deck 5 and a section at the end of the pool area on deck 12 starboard side with a around 12 rocking chairs.
  6. Silhouette reintroduced indoor mask wearing once Covid cases had exceeded 3%. This was 14 to 26 May sailing. Most passengers complied. If you want guarantees don't cruise. Just go with the flow and enjoy your cruise we certainly did. Geoff and the boss (Anita).
  7. We do the same although the information from Investor Relations says 3 to 4 weeks. We also do each cruise separately just because I like to keep the paperwork in an individual folder.
  8. Sounds very unlikely. Before even considering this I would want. 1) written confirmation 2) confirmation that the price would be the same. For the future one alternative is to book your "flights" as a holiday not simply as flights. All you need to add is one night hotel (the cheapest the airline has not even necessarily at the destination you are flying to if you don't intend to use it) or 1 days car rental (cheapest as you won't be using it). You will pay less, won't need to pay the whole amount upfront and have full ATOL protection. Easy to do with BA Holidays and other airlines holiday departments.
  9. If you have booked a return ticket the return segment will automatically be cancelled if you are a no show on the outward. Try calling X early in the morning that usually works for me. Also try 01932 834300.
  10. Yes the paperwork needed to claim shows ownership - just make sure it shows your full name and address. The purchase date is irrelevant.
  11. No and no. You just have to own the shares when you apply, you can buy after you have booked. OBC from whatever source no longer affects the Shareholders benefit. We have never had a request refused even when we were on a charter cruise.
  12. I totally agree. My point was that people have been using the word " quarantining" as if it is the same in all countries. In some countries you may indeed be required to stay in a hotel room for specific period and have your meals delivered. Whereas in the UK you are not legally restricted to staying in a specific hotel nor indeed to staying in doors at all. You are free to make choices and I recall Jim and Iain enjoying a walk in the New Forest.
  13. Sorry I should have said if your combined spend on tips, WiFi and drinks exceed not just drinks and WiFi.
  14. It's about choice. If your combined drink and WiFi spend will be above or at least around 💲1500 go AI if not go Cruise Rate. On a 14 night after paying the tips (would never not do that) we will save around 💲650.
  15. I second your thanks. Extended a 7 night Norway by staying on for a 12 nights Baltics by booking onboard 48 hours before the second cruise. Emailed Investor Relations the next day, OBC was confirmed within 12 hours and credited to the new cruise on change over day. The present share price is still double what we paid and we have had over double the cost back in OBC. Also pre pandemic the dividend was another little bonus.
  16. Use one of free minutes as they are the faster rate. Then use the second lot on the same device. When you have used the second lot you will be part way through the cruise and X might offer a reduced rate for the remaining days. What ever package you then buy you will still get your Elite bonus on it. Of course do all the drafting of emails off line and shut down immediately the messages have been sent. If you really need 24/7 access or 2 devices you will have to buy a package. Convert you OBC to cash in the Casino.
  17. Hi Ruth, As usual X has managed to make something simple complicated. They now offer Elite discounts and if you pre book you also get the pre booking discount on top and you get the 90 or 240 minutes free. In reality if you have AI you can use your free minutes first then swop to the lower speed. If you don't have AI use your free minutes first then buy a package on the ship for the balance of the cruise. Geoff and the boss (Anita).
  18. yes, yes yes. It's what we and many others have been asking for for months. As Elite+, who cannot drink alcohol and don't need unlimited wifi it's a no brainer. 240 minutes each free of the faster wifi, Lattes, teas and chocolate free in Al Bacio, free water during the Elite Happy Hour, plus you can collect juices at the bar and take it to dinner. It's all about choice and we are delighted that Celebrity has at last acted and restored that choice. We have already booked a TA.
  19. Just a few points to clarify the interesting discussion on this thread. We were on the Fjords Cruise (7 to 14 May) and the subsequent 12 night Baltics cruise. Fjords - passengers 2400, no attempt to social distance, very few masks and Covid cases amongst passengers reached just over 1%. No actual numbers announced. No testing for B2B passengers. Baltics - passengers just over 1000 (more crew than passengers), no attempt to social distance, very few masks. By day 9 Covid cases amongst passengers had reached over 3% (the highest number announced was 37 passengers but after that nothing) Compolsary mask wearing in the theatre was introduced first followed by "strongly recommended" in all other indoor venues except when seated and or eating/drinking. Nothing was done to enforce the latter. I believe if passengers were routinely tested at 7 days (as the crew are) Covid cases would way exceed the figures currently being announced. Quarentining - the use of this phrase when referring to the UK is totally misleading. There are no requirements to quarantine in the UK - you are recommended to self isolate but are under no obligation to do so. Disembarkation in Southampton - if you board a cruise in Southampton and disembark from the same cruise there are no Passport checks. This applies to all cruises not just Celebrity.
  20. X has made it harder to use by changing some cabins so that they no longer have a category to up grade too. For example the slanted balconies on S Class now has its own grade making it impossible to get the discount.
  21. Or on balconies. Smoking on outside decks is also strictly limited. The rules also include e cigarettes.
