Dec 2023 no good way really to avoid the mob, but there was a line specifically for 4*, 5*, suites & CO. You have to be diligent about showing that & the Priority on the boarding pass as they will try to just put you in the lines.

Was the line outside or inside?

  2. When you are 4* & boarding in San Diego, is there a special line (either outside or inside the building) to get into?  When we boarded in 2023, we weren't 4* but were booked in a Neptune.....we were in the mob in the building where nobody asked what our status was...noticed some people just walked right up to the check-in booths....what was their status?  I guess basically I'm asking how to avoid the mob.....TIA.

  3. Thanks for the replies....I'm waiting for more & waiting to hear from our PCC to see if things will transfer along with the new offer....  Liked the space of the Neptune suite & really liked CO on the K.  Can't remember our experience on the Z except it wasn't unfavorable.  The only smaller ship I didn't like was the Eurodam.

  4. We really liked the K with CO on our 35 day cruise in 2023 & have it booked for a December cruise BUT...I found a Caribbean cruise on the Volendam & am having a hard time thinking about going back to a smaller ship without a separate CO....see my signature for the ships we've been on & convince me which one I'd like better, please.  TIA.

Sorry everyone.  I haven’t been on a whole lot and apologize to all for any losses, worries or concerns I have missed.

I am just too stressed and depressed.  The foot has not become less painful and I was told to get into the doctor yesterday.  She has prescribed some stuff but very concerned and I am to see her tomorrow morning first thing.  At that time, I will be advised if I can go on the cruise or not.  I’m supposed to be leaving Friday.  Had no heart to pack any further yesterday.

To say I am depressed is an understatement.

I'm sorry Jacqui - somehow I missed, or have forgotten, what you did to your foot that's causing you such trouble.

    Vodka Collins cocktail:

The vodka collins is a simple, refreshing, and popular mixed drink. Made with vodka, lemon juice, simple syrup, and club soda, it's really just a sweet and sour vodka soda (and just as easy to mix up). The quick but charming cocktail is a perfect happy hour choice for vodka drinkers, and its clean, crisp taste makes it ideal for dinner.

    Ingredients:

    1 1/2 oz. vodka
    1 oz. lemon juice
    1/2 lunch simple syrup
3-5 oz. club soda to taste
    Orange slice to garnish
    Maraschino cherry for garnish

    Directions:

In a collins glass filled with ice cubes, pour the vodka, lemon juice, and simple syrup.  Stir thoroughly.  Top with club soda.  Garnish.

This used to be my drink of choice - have to try it again.

The burgers at Dive-In are really good, better than most cruise line burgers.  The hot dogs are also good.  People I know rave about the fries.  I don't think you will be disappointed doing lunch there.

I had an issue with the one (& only) bratwurst I ordered - it wasn 't even warm in the middle!  It was gross!!

    Good morning.

It is 55°F and partly sunny here.

    Thank you for the FR&D.

National pet day is well deserved.

    A good quote.

I will pass on the food and drink.

Prayers for better health for those on the care list.

I wish everyone a happy and healthy day.

Should your itinerary include St Kitts, you could buy Caribelle Batik, hand made locally.  You can visit on site to watch some being crafted, and on the day of our visit there were highly coloured and patterned items hanging out to dry on lines in the very pretty gardens. It is not inexpensive, but genuinely  local and  handmade.

Their items can probably be found in retail outlets elsewhere in the Caribbean.

& do try any garments on -- I bought a blouse/top & unfortunately it runs small --- wish I would have followed my advice....it's hanging in my closet & has never been worn.

  10. I'm chiming in on the doctor thread....I've never been crazy about my PCP -- he was a default choice when our previous PCP retired....I had dealt with the 'new guy' as a nurse & thought he was pretty good but as his patient, I've never been really satisfied with him.  We have Medicare A & B as well as Kaiser....again I dealt with a Kaiser MD as a nurse & liked him (& worked with his sister, also an RN)...finally got an appointment to see him yesterday & he's working on getting my pain meds figured out so I can get some relief....the surgeon's PA put me on increasing doses of Gabapentin, which I didn't do....this new MD said 300 mg was probably too much & reduced the dose to 100 at bedtime along with Ultram once a day...too soon to know the results BUT....he's going on a sabbatical for 9 months so I won't be able to see him again till January.....anyway had a bunch of labs drawn yesterday, got a pneumonia booster, need a DXA scan, etc.....so so far I'm very pleased.

I quoted both the posts to keep them in context. I think @RedIguana is pointing out the slippery slope that @Heartgrove is suggesting. Should the 5 stars have a special line over the 4 stars? I dare say that there will be several 3 stars on any given cruise who over their cruising life have spent way more than the inside cabin 4 and 5 star. So "star status" has a widely varying price point. Club orange is a set cost, pay the price get priority, it's a simple concept.

Except when you don't like on our 35 day cruise out of San Diego last year....was part of the "herd".
