Delta Goodrem on Queen Elizabeth!
buchhalm replied to Kiwi_cruiser's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
It is pretty difficult to look "bad" in a well-cut tuxedo. Tails/Morning coat are even better. It's sheer impossible to slouch in those. π -
Make sure that you enter details EXACTLY as in your passport. For example, if your name in the passport is Robert Adam Smith, than that is what you enter. Even in your daily life you are BOB Smith or your drivers liscense says something else. And we use the date format Day-Month-Year. So be careful with that one as well.

Pre existing medical condition cover
buchhalm replied to cruisine21's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
I second that. And not only for cruise specific insurance. It is one of the few insurance companies that make it relatively easy to understand what is/isn't covered. And in language a non-medical or legal person can reasonably understand. -
Sydney Opera House Tour Advice
buchhalm replied to Worldtraveler 4727's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
As for any OH tour, it is HIGHLY recommended to book ahead as soon as you know when you want to go. Pre π€¬π€¬ Covid they ran tours pretty much continuously, but now they are quite limited. All tours on offer are well worth it. I recommend an early in the day tour. That way you are less likely to encounter an afternoon performance or rehearsal, which would mean you are unlikely to get to see the inside of the venue in use. -
A few years ago we cruised from SIN on some horrible ship Costa Victoria (I think). It was SO bad, it was funny. Full of Chinese who's behaviour is unprintable. Food? One evening the waiter put something in front of us with the comment "I am sorry, I have no idea what that is". Thankfully we had the unlimited booze package and 3 Martinis with extra olives before "dinner" made it marginally bearable and held off food poisoning. Ship departed late and never caught up. Instead of arriving in Bali at 10.00 am, we arrived at 07.00 pm in pitch darkness. They still insisted on conducting "sightseeing tours" to Ubud and the rice paddies. No refunds. We contemplated jumping ship in Bali and fly home to Abu Dhabi. I rather have another knee surgery than setting foot on Costaπππ

Hello Brains Trust. We have to attend a wedding in Singapore on January 6 next year. Any idea if there is a cruise of up to 14 days departing from there (or reasonably nearby) after that date?

They really should rename them the Fab Four, or something like that...

What is noticeable is that there are a lot fewer "large" people in these photos

Given the port times on a cruise, i think you are pretty much tied to what the ships sell. The independent tours depart or get back at times that are not suitable for cruise schedules. But if you have time before or after the cruise, there are a few fabulous smaller operators in Cairns and Port Douglas. There is one that takes a sailing catamaran with out to the Low Isles for a full day of snorkelling and diving. Not as busy as the huge boats with many hundreds that go to the pontoons on the outer reef. (But those are great as well. Just not as laid back)

Hotel in Sydney

Four Seasons. Intercontinental (marginally further by 5 minutes walk). Park Hyatt for ludicrous prices for no reason. -

Best cruise line for Teenagers departing Brisbane

I always thought that the point of Schoolies is to have a holiday WITHOUT the parents. As nice as a cruise IS, perhaps the kids want to experience Schoolies with their mates -
Google "bounce luggage storage circular quay ". There is a branch at City Extra restaurant at Circular Quay. I believe you are supposed to pre book, but i have seen plenty of people just rock up and deposit luggage there. Open 24 hours. Opposite wharf 4. And 5 minutes walk along the waterfront from the cruise terminal
