The heat was nearly unbearable at Chacchoben today, but we survived. It was great to see Mayan ruins, but it’s another one and done for us. More thoughts on Allure: It’s a beautiful ship. Our cabin is showing its age a little, but the rest of the ship looks great. It doesn’t feel nearly as crowded as I thought it would. The shows have all been fantastic. Regarding the new MDR menu at dinner, we miss certain old favorites, but the food has been consistently hot and the service has been fast and excellent. I do really miss the evening cabin service. Also, there are a LOT more dirty dishes littering the hallways now that stewards aren’t retrieving them from the rooms in the evenings. I suppose we will all have to get used to it. This cabin is really cool, but the bed is the absolute hardest bed I have ever experienced in my life. All Royal beds are hard, but this one is next level. I was considering sleeping on the couch at one point. My sore shoulders and hips will be happy to get home to my own bed, but I’m still in no rush for this cruise to end. Two days left! Hope the time doesn’t fly by. Not ready to return to reality.

So here is yesterday’s “odd situation” to add to the others on this Allure cruise so far. After waiting an hour in the My Time line at the MDR, which was packed due to formal night, we got all the way to the host stand only to have him loudly announce that the dining room was completely full. He said that everyone in line needed to leave and come back in an hour!!! I expected to wait a while, but I did not expect that! Never had that happen before and we always do My Time. We kind of stood there for a minute trying to decide what to do, since we wouldn’t make our show time if we waited an hour to eat. When we mentioned this to the host, he magically found a table (weren’t they just 100% full???) and we were seated almost immediately. We were so confused about all of that and were asking each other “what just happened?!” SO WEIRD.

@dbancroft and anyone else who is interested, here are pics of the ultra-spacious ocean view with large balcony on Allure. It is a large cabin that would sleep up to six people. Lots of storage. The bunk beds are inside that little doorway next to the couch, to the left of the bathroom. Bunk “closet” with its own wardrobe. Balcony with lots of chairs Andrew spends most of his time sitting in the window above the sofa.

It was the number on the business card the steward gave us. Brian waited on hold so long because it was late and he was hoping to avoid an in-person trip. After the shower flood, he just went directly down again and didn’t bother with the phone. This morning, we returned after the ship tour and our room had been serviced. The bunk was again not “made up”. The duvet was removed, roughly folded, and tossed on top. No top sheet. I guess this is just how he does it? In the past when we’ve had the bunk that lowers from the ceiling, the stewards always made it up nice like a regular bed. Not impressed with this. But oh well. We are still having a good time.

Mamma Mia was fantastic!! The singers were all so talented. I thought of you during the show. As far as the bedding, a different steward came within 30 minutes and made the bunk with fresh linens. I think our main complaint related to that was that no one answered the steward line on the phone, it hung up after 30 minutes on hold, so Brian had to go all the way down to GS in person (twice).

On Allure. 150 for dinner, fantastic. Just got done with Mamma Mia, it was excellent. Spent the whole time embarrassing Andrew by lip-syncing all the songs. Love it. Our cabin has bunk beds for kids. Unfortunately, Andrew’s bunk had dirty sheets. I asked the steward to take care of it. When we returned from the show after 10:30, he had removed the dirty sheets but did not replace them, so Andrew has no bedding. Brian spent 30 min on hold after calling the number on the card, then it hung up on him. He headed to guest services in person. Hope he can use his bed soon. We have to be up early tomorrow for the ship tour.

We had a similar luggage problem the last time we cruised. Our AirTag went nuts telling us one bag had been left behind at the terminal as we were sailing away. An hour and a half of panicking later, it showed up at our cabin. The AirTag didn’t encounter other iPhones for reference when it was down in the cargo hold, I guess.
