  1. Since we are boarding the Nova on 8-21-23, "I'll drink to that!!"
  2. I for one am not confused. I received an email from SS 10 days before we leave home and I can pack accordingly. I am going to take a tie but probably will not wear it
  3. Just curious? Why can't SS have different dress codes on different ships.
  4. My crystal ball says this new and improved dress code on the Nova will eventually extend to the entire fleet.
  5. I think this email supersedes the prior dress code rule for LaDame. No tie needed in LaDame.
  6. I just received this email from SS- Booking #: 189015-21 Dear Mr. La Peter, Your Nova journey into a world of elegance and comfort at sea is about to begin. 7. When you check in at the airport at the start of your trip, just check the luggage tags to see where the final destination is.
  8. I agree that at $120 for two, count me in. At $320 for two, unless they are including fabulous expensive wines, I can't see the value or ROI.
  9. Classic veranda was the first one. One can almost miss it.
  10. Thanks Lois. We are boarding on 8-21-23 and very excited to meet the new baby of the family!!
  11. I just tried a second ressie in LaDame and it did not work for me.
  12. I think you will find that a very small percentage of SS cruises actually post on Cruise Critic. After many cruises on SS, I have found most passengers are very nice people. As most of us know, one of the problems with the internet, social media and online posting, people will type things that they would never say to your face or on the phone. In my business world, I would always rather communicate in person or on the phone, but that is just me.
  13. That is great that you will be wearing that- what ever floats your boat! I tend to judge people by what is under their skin and not what is on top of their skin. Bon Voyage and I hope you are on one of my SS cruises!!
  14. Regarding this entire "dress code" saga, this reminds me of what a British chap said a while ago- "Much ado about nothing." Just go on the cruise and enjoy your holiday. We are boarding the Silver Nova on 8-21-23 and the last thing that we are concerned about is the dress code and what other people are wearing. It is time to get over this and move on with our lives. Happy sailing!!
  15. Last year on the Dawn, we asked in advance for Peking Duck. Sadly this chef did not know how to prepare Peking Duck as it was so so. Other meals were great but we will not request Peking Duck. We will just go the Peking Duck restaurant in Manhatten and pig out- haha.
  16. A new wrinkle- Having heard that Barbara said somewhere, that they will honor previously made ressies for La Dame at the old price, I went in to try and put in new reservations for La Dame on the Nova 8-21-23 and 118-23 cruises. I was only able to make one ressie for La Dame on either cruise and the second attempt for a second ressie was not allowed- humm!!
  17. As long as your cargo pants and hoodie are a designer label, say Louie, then you are good to go!!
  18. That's nice, but I already cancelled my ressie but I will try and rebook.
  19. As I mentioned earlier on this subject, SS has a right to change their pricing on anything they want. It is called the golden rule. They who have the ships, make the rules. I certainly will not pay the $320 upcharge. Let me give another example- We go to a nice restaurant on land, get the menus, we have a nice dinner and then we get the check. We look at the bill and all the prices are triple from the menu we just ordered from. We ask the server about this and they tell us they mistakenly gave us an old menu with the old prices which are wrong but still tell us "Pay up sucker- them's the rules". SS is doing the same thing. If I didn't check on my upcoming confirmed ressies for the 8-21-23 Nova sailing AND I was not aware of Cruise Critic, here is what would have happened. I made two La Dame ressies for the upcoming cruise for La Dame and it was clearly shown as $60 per person up charge. I was never made aware of the change in price and after dinner I get the new and improved charges. I wonder how many people will get this surprise when they have dinner at La Dames on the Nova. I have never received any notice of the price change. To make matters worse, once I heard about the "rumored" price change, I emailed a contact at SS that was given to me by Barbara M. asking about the possible price change and if they would honor the old price since I had made a confirmed ressie when the price was clearly $60 per person. It has been almost a week since I sent the email and no response at all from SS. IMHO, not a good way to run a business.
  20. The new and improved costs for the two restaurants is currently only for the Nova and the Ray. I think if SS finds enough suckers, they will extend it to the rest of the fleet. As I posted earlier, La Dame is not the French Laundry, by a long way.
  21. I don't know the number but I do remember that the upcharge for a room with a balcony was quite expensive. It was more than what I wanted to spend. Just go to the roof restaurant/bar and get a great view of the Acropolis.
  22. Since I won't be dining at La Dame, I could care less what people wear to dinner.
