  1. Might do, It could have been locale driven in the past or it could be staffing issues which could have arisen through Covid. Don't ask, won't have any idea.
  2. and you would only know of any downgrading if, through experience, you had knowledge of life before March '20. 🙂 I think I mentioned morning ice cream and finger sandwiches to you years ago on this board as you weren't aware of their existence. 'Things' might vary cruise locale to cruise locale but it's no use mentioning downgrading if a given explanation doesn't accompany the comment. To be fair Covid could actually be a reason, not an excuse if staffing levels are down but Cunard's communication skills do 'occasionally' leave a little to be desired. Frank explanations go a long way in my book.
  3. Of course there is. However for many of us, a lack of QV staff waiting around to take drinks orders is not reason enough to forsake deck 11's facilities. If the staffing level was so poor all the time, I hope WOV brought it up with the Hotel Manager and asked why one deck steward circulated once during his holiday.
  4. and did you follow this up after a couple of days of diminished Grills deck service with the Hotel Manager or senior staff, either Naomi or Virginia on your cruise, and ask why the down grading of the level of service?
  5. I'm afraid I have to disagree with you. If you don't like the cakes or sandwiches served at 'tea' would you expect your choice to be 'got' for you? I asked for lemon drizzle which was on offer the day before. I was politely told it wasn't available and yes, the waiter 'walked off' because why should he hang around? I accepted that. Obviously, I wasn't there when you were refused your choice of ice cream, or indeed, on the ship but all I can say is, if the service on the rest of the fleet is as good as the wonderful service we received on QV on V314, then future passengers [in QG for us] have no need to worry.
  6. An in date couple of Covid tests are now part of my 'keep in suitcase' kit, along with hair conditioner now which I forgot two weeks ago and as a consequence can definitely confirm the weediness of the supplied Penhaligon conditioner! 😐
  7. and feet on the table too. T'would make elbows positively good mannered!
  8. Sadly, the Lido chocolate ice cream was there last week and the week before, crew member dispensed once the neuro advisory went out. I neglected to say 'stop, that's enough' on a few lunch time occasions. Yum. By the by, cabins may be expensive in the Grills but I must be weird as the word 'expect' doesn't figure for me if something as simple as the non availability of an asked for ice cream flavour for outside, isn't available. I'd either go without or nip down to the Lido if it was that much of a necessity.
  9. No, not a hard ask at all but might entail a crew member going off to get some and there might not be that time factored into the schedule at that time. Unfortunately, I discovered the ice cream dispenser in the Lido many cruises ago. ☹️ The chocolate is yum! 👍
  10. It was business as usual last August on QV. Didn’t bother with deck 11 this time. I will find out later in the year.
  11. Welcome, Mr HH. Hope your wife gives herself a blog badge or whatever it is she gives others who blog. She's doing so brilliantly. 👍

    Pol Aker?

Oh my word. That's our future cruises cancelled then and a strong letter to Carnival House in order. I KNEW standards were slipping! NO POL ACKER in our cabin!! 😁

    Pol Aker?

We got both last August. Two half bottles of PA plus champagne. Standards are definitively slipping or some might say things are looking up!!! 😄

    Pol Aker?

I felt quite hard done to. We didn't get any PA this time. 🙁 We did get some Rose champagne whilst in the past we used to double dip on the fizzy stuff. PA is very palatable in fresh oj.
  15. The only times I study the exterior of QV, is when I lament the passing of her raked stern. ☹️ I too trust any inevitable rust will not cause the ship to sink!🙂
  16. I forgot to get a couple this time so fingers crossed Cunard don't run out.
  17. Don't know about any 'new breeds' unless you're referring to the canine variety but taking free drinks, in lieu of forking out for any, around the ship is nothing new at all so don't put the onus on newbies. I don't agree with it but it's not a new issue at all.
  18. I must admit, I thought a loyalty scheme is also a reward initiative. Spending lots of dosh isn't necessarily anything to do with loyalty.
  19. I have enough clothes to fill them but don't have enough hired help with me all the time to do the lifting and shifting!
  20. I've never seen it offered as a an 'onboard excursion' on the voyage planner.so I would guess the answer is it's an onboard booking. It appeared on the daily programme, I think, around day three. I would suggest going down to the pursuers desk and see if you can get ahead of any announcement and if not, get in there asap once it appears as an option.
  21. Sorry, my omission. I omitted to say this was all on QV rather than QM2.
  22. A ceiling AP [I called therm routers before reading this excellent thread] was pointed out to me in stairway B which is why I did a Christopher Robin [courtesy of AA Milne for those unfamiliar which his poems] when we had a mid ships' cabin. Any chance of a similar spreadsheet for QV? 🙂
