  1. I have been in Barcelona a few times and agree about the WIFi but I would still rather have cell phone service.
  2. OP is on Verizon. Verizon phones can be unlocked after 60 days if it is a locked phone. If it is an iPhone and purchased from Apple it will be unlocked. As to whether they can get by for 3 days some people could. Some people can’t. We can’t answer that. I could not and to me $20 or $30 , I could probably time it to 2 days, $20 is nothing.
  3. This discussion is going for the weeds but while I dislike Facebook it is the only way I can keep in touch with coworkers from the company I retired from, my condo community and some businesses that are only on Facebook. Small shops that have events are on Facebook and Instagram. Particularly some tourists sites in some countries don’t have websites they have Facebook pages in Bermuda and the Caribbean. So I do use Facebook when on a cruise to check local stuff at some ports. Also Facebook Marketplace has become the best place to sell stuff like furniture you no longer need. Much safer than Craig’s List. The ones who post too much we can unfollow.
  4. Don't turn off WiFi calling. You won't be able to turn it back on when out of the US. All that means is that international phone calls are charged. That would be the same if you use WiFi calling on the ship. You don't get charged for domestic US calls with WiFI calling. When you are using your travel pass you don't use WiFi calling you use cellular calling, If you want to make an international call don't do it on WiFi.. Don't turn off WiFi Calling! if you need to make an international call and are on WiFi turn off WiFi.
  5. I have been there. It is a very nice beach. It is not busy. There is a lifeguard station. A restaurant open Wed thru Sunday. Lifeguard station and chemical toilets. No chair rentals. It is worth going to. You can take a ferry to Hamilton then a bus or taxi or take a ferry to St. George and then a bus or taxi.
  6. You don't need 3 forms of transportation. A ferry and a taxi is 2 forms.. $5 for the ferry and $20 for the taxi. The ferry ride is 45 minutes to St, George's and a taxi takes about $20 from St. George's. Or you could ferry to Hamilton and then take a taxi. That will cost more. Using only 1 form of transportation would be a taxi from the Dockyard to Clearwater. That would cost about $75.
  7. And how has that worked out?
  8. There is nothing about Power Up Points in the email so I assume there won't be any. PUP points.
  9. The solution to the Android user I think would be to use WhatsApp to text that user.
  10. I think getting more families onboard is most likely. First Coco Cay itineraries and now this. Vaping in the casino.
  11. The data is only unlimited if you have an unlimited plan but they offer various unlimited plans now. It makes more sense these days with Verizon and AT&T to get an unlimited plan if you have multiple lines on you plan and not worry about going over domestically. If you have one line and rarely use your smartphone it might be worth something less than unlimited. A lot of people who travel a lot linternationaly ike T-Mobile but I seem to be in a T-Mobile dead spot. I am on AT&T now and have Unlimited because it includes Canada, Mexico and 19 Latin American countries. AT&T works best at home.
  12. Barcelona is full of crooks. Don't use free WiFi hotspots there without a VPN. Which reminds me for the OP, they should have travel belts or whatever. Barcelona is full of pickpockets. Don't keep wallets in pockets. Also be careful there at ATMs. Only use ones inside a bank. There are skimmers on the street ones.
  13. Royal does not. I wish they had been the one to do it. I have been Elite Plus for years so the PUPs don’t really matter as I will never reach Zenith. On Royal I am Diamond have been 3 points from Diamond Plus for years. Royal is low on my list and I won’t book it again unless it is a family/friends cruise. Might happen might not. I won’t book just to get to Diamond Plus.
  14. They could have both phones on two travel passes and might want to but they don’t need to. One could set up a personal hotspot.
  15. Yes that is true data will only be unlimited if you have unlimited data on your domestic plan. (I do) For what people will use in port they are unlikely to go over if they don't have unlimited. If pre cruise or post cruise they will have wifi at their hotel. For long Land vacations or combined land and cruise I use a different stratagy. Besides Wifi at my accomidations I have a dual Sim phone and use Airalo. Before each cruise or land vacation I make a plan because the plan will be different for each trip.
  16. Every trip is different. Also what works best for a Canadian or European will be different than for an American on a US cell carrier. If I have a WiFi package onboard the the cost for port days that I use the phone is $10 a day. I only get charged if I decide to use the travel pass on the phone that port day. It is optional. Physical SIM cards and slots are obsolete by the way. My phone has two eSims, no physical sim, which means it is even easier. I can have two eSims active. My US eSim and any other eSim if I want. I can buy local and regional eSims from Airalo if I were on along enough trip. For OP they might only need to use their phone 2 days in Barcelona. $20.
  17. When a travel pass costs $10 a day, you keep your own number and it is only for a few days the tThe Travel Pass is an easier solution than a SIM card.
  18. The $10 a days Travel Passes on Verizon and AT&T include unlimited, talk, text and data. Banking and credit cards at Wifi hotspots you can use a VPN for more security but honestly Bank and credit card websites and apps are all encrypted. If the hotspot has a log in you should be okay. Hotspots without log ins should not be used. I do prefer to use those on cell service when traveling.
  19. You can get $10 a day travel passes on Verizon and use your phone in Barcelona or any port. Your hotel will probably have free WiFi.
  20. I don't know as I don't bother to watch his annoying videos anymore or those of that even more annoying Youtube loser Don, the one who includes loser things from his life that have nothing to do with cruises.
  21. if you have a drink package you would not pay for drinks. The Elite happy hour drinks would be redundant.
  22. I have been there. I took a taxi from St. George's. Cost about $20. You can take the Orange Line ferry from the Dockyard or if you are on NCl their ferry then take a taxi from St. George. There is a bus from St. George but it only runs once an hour. I don't recommentd the bus. Just don't do it the last day as finding a taxi back from Clearwater to St. George's may take some time to get.
  23. I know people who buy jewelry on cruise ships or cruise ports because they like to shop and the jewelry reminds them of the cruise when they get home.
  24. That is BS that they posted. I don't think it would cost them much. More like it is inertia.
  25. There are other cruise lines that do similiar itineraries. Holland America, Princess, I believe Royal Caribbean. You might look into those.
