  1. Would I be right in thinking SiL does not visit this site?
  2. We were on this cruise and cannot recall anything that could constitute being disastrous. A few weather related things but that is hardly the fault of the ship, new or old. Small and at times overcrowded lifts and the lack of a midships staircase but these are design flaws that I believe still exist. Inconvenient but not disastrous.
  3. Free bottles of wine with their meals? Just wait for the complaints when the cellar runs dry.
  4. But if it doesn’t rain, they will be set off in 2024 but on New Year’s day, not New Year’s eve.
  5. On a more pessimistic note, the fact that there seem to have been fewer fireworks at midnight may be due to the cost of living crisis. My main concern though is that many who had bought them and were prevented from setting them off by the wet weather may decide to set them off at other times thereby causing prolonged distress to the pets that we look after. Either that or keeping a stock of explosives in their homes ready for bonfire night or new year’s eve 2024.
  6. New Year wishes from me in very wet and windy Wales (and sometimes Stoke on Trent). I hope your resolutions last longer than mine are likely to.
  7. I presume that in order to at least get ‘Moments’ magazine, you have to opt into getting communications by post as well as, or instead of, other ways such as email. Whether this includes the calendar, which is a gift, not marketing (maybe), I don’t know. We get marketing stuff by post and the ‘Moments’ magazine came a few weeks ago. No calendar this year though.
  8. I have no idea why this has appears twice but the sentiment still holds
  9. Thanks for your replies. Perhaps to reflect what you say, they should have a tablecloth MDR and a no tablecloth MDR - take your pick.
  10. Just a thought. Can those of you who are regular patrons of Michelin starred restaurants let us know whether they use table cloths?
  11. Almost makes me feel like jumping in the car and driving over. Mind you, it would probably be raining when I arrived. I seems from your picture as though the sun is even shining on Rhyl by the Sea.
  12. HOT turkey with all the trimmings and a good bottle of red wine because having had Christmas dinner with family yesterday, we have not yet had the pleasure and delight of cooking our own 🥴
  13. A very merry Christmas to all virtual (and actual) friends on here and a new year that is better than this, even if this year has been good for you. Hopefully Snow Hill gets his new car this side of summer. Raining cats and dogs here in Stoke at the moment so Santa may need a good umbrella and waterproof sack. 🐶😼🎅🏼
  14. Just a shame you can’t get a train down to Grimsby and drive it back yourself. 🤔🚗
  15. I hear Bruce is re-releasing an updated ‘Darkness on the Edge of Town’ and dedicating it to the energy companies.😊
  16. Only when I have had a few too many drinks (which is a distinct possibility over the next few days).
  17. Merry Christmas to everyone from me as well (even though it is a few days early).
  18. What is it they say about great minds? Probably doesn’t apply here though.
  19. I believe they are especially good for currant accounts. Part owned by the wife of a sultan I think.
  20. That is ridiculous but in a strangely warped way it is understandable. The fact it happened once, regardless of the circumstances and whose fault it was, shows that it can happen and therefore could happen again. The fact that presumably the driver’s insurance company paid to repair any damage doesn’t alter the fact (in their eyes). Have you considered changing your insurer at renewal to a company who don’t think you are high risk?
