  1. Presumably, maybe just from the angle the photo was taken, there is more than a passing resemblance to our ‘revered leader’. Apologies if she (or you) was offended by my observation.
  2. We still use our Ninja air fryer / multi cooker in our static caravan for convenience, cost and quality of cook. Maybe the early ones are stuck in cupboards because the modern ones do far more and much better. I was sceptical at first but not now.
  3. Graham - Looking at the lady on the right in picture 2, I am surprised our Prime Minister found the time to share a meal with you. I hope she offered to put it on her expenses. 😇
  4. No need to join the caravan club because our static caravans are not going to be clogging up roads and delaying traffic at all (once they are here). The clue is in the term ‘static’. Our site is actually quite genteel apart from in the bar on Saturday night and I guess pension day would have been hectic when such a day for a visit to the Post Office existed. We got a bit excited yesterday at the sight of a rabbit near our caravan. Being able to buy a van and to pay the annual site fees and other costs is a bit of a drawback though. Of course, what happens behind closed doors is another matter….. 🫣😱😵🥴😈
  5. You promised you wouldn’t tell. You know how embarrassed it makes me feel ☹️
  6. My lips are well and truly sealed Hyacinth (apart from when eating or drinking)🍷🍷🥃🍺
  7. It is a scam to get your bank details. I guess you realise that but I believe that many people are falling for it to their great cost, greater than £1:45.
  8. I think you are probably right and aft or forward seem easier to isolate than mid ships. I don’t know where accessible cabins are on Ventura. Having said that, we haven’t yet been told that our suite, a couple of cabins away from OP on the same cruise, is not available. There is time for that to change but maybe it won’t.
  9. I think so but it doesn’t seem to make much sense to use the corner cabin for isolation and not the 4 suites next to it. I have emailed a contact at P&O in order to find out whether we have our chosen suite or not.
  10. Seems strange that you haven’t received an email (and neither have we yet - in C748 on the cruise after yours). Maybe they are selecting some cabins to take out of operation to spread people more evenly over the ship, especially if it is sailing below capacity. No consolation to OP though. It would be helpful if they could be a little more forthcoming with explanations.
  11. We are also on this cruise in an aft suite on deck C but haven’t had the email you have received (yet). As there are no other suites available, anything they want to give us will be a definite downgrade.
  12. We had our boosters yesterday. All staff and helpers were friendly and polite as I hope their ‘patients’ were. We turned up pretty much on time and within five minutes were done. Not feeling great today though, but it will no doubt pass.
  13. Did either of you who were on Ventura last week notice where the COVID isolation area was (if such a thing still exists)? It seems to have been deck 10 aft previously, precisely where our cabin is from October 29th.
  14. Possibly. Gary Barlow may have turned some music lovers away from the cruise (only kidding!). I guess it has more to do with cost, and artists not being willing to commit themselves to regular 3 or 4 day breaks on a cruise ship in a cabin lacking some of the comforts they may be used to.
  15. From that list, it seems as though the “Limelight acts’ are a level or two below what they used to be. I am sure they are very good at what they do and will provide an enjoyable evening, but they are hardly household names (as some of them used to be).
  16. Although I am not particularly a royalist, it is a terribly sad day and the end of an era. Like most people, I have never known a time when Elizabeth was not the Queen. Now she is gone from all of our lives.
  17. Which is another reason why having a thread such as this is important because it allows us to highlight such a scam more widely to save victims from a difficult situation.
  18. I think you will find that it is a scam. They are trying to get you to tell them your bank details in order to pay the £1.49 that you don’t owe for a package that does not exist. Once they have your details, they can use them to take money from your account. Clotted cream every time for me.
  19. In June, we took out a 2 year fix at £190 per month. Unit prices are still a bit higher than current variable rate but that will change in our favour come October. It is a crazy situation all round. Utility bills for what we use in our static caravan have to be added to the monthly spend and of course when we are at the caravan, we still use a surprising amount of electricity at home.
  20. I just hope that instead of increasing the price of a portion of chips, they reduce the mountain of chips you get in a portion to a large hill. We don’t have them often, but a standard portion provides enough for us both, with some left over.
  21. Working on the basis that fish and chips from the chippy is never sold with a side salad, rather than increasing prices, remove the superfluous greenery. Or is it so you can say you had a healthy salad for lunch without mentioning it was a fish and chip salad? 🥴
  22. We have an aft suite on C deck for the end of October which we booked when the bookings opened. The other suites are sold out so if this area is still for isolation, they will have to downgrade us. There are 3 adults booked in the suite but I don’t suppose any downgrade will be available to comfortably house 3 people. Interesting times ahead perhaps.
  23. The excursions were not yet available a couple of days ago when I last checked.
