  1. Sounds like the travails of the ‘Milk Tray man’: ‘and all because the lady loves oatcakes’.
  2. It being a blur at the end of the evening may be more to do with the cocktails, wine and after dinner tipples.
  3. If you are unable to dock in Guernsey, as seems rather common, it won’t matter.
  4. The dish with the lattice was the second dessert. It was a sort of rhubarb, ginger and cardamom light mousse with lumps of rhubarb in it and with a gingerbread lattice on the top. It was extremely nice and the young girl who made it was delighted that we all enjoyed it.
  5. Do you think word got around the local community that you were going there today? The lamb looks nice but do I spy a Yorkshire pudding?
  6. Lunar is a rare indulgence. We booked the ‘chef’s table’ for 10 of us which had a great view into the kitchen. Lots of tweezers being used for bits of garnish but everything was so calm and orderly. Head Chef Niall Keating was not there but it really didn’t matter. Beef had been aged for 97 days, and tasted really good. Sweetbreads were something I never intended to eat but they were gorgeous. I still can’t believe it. As for the Hungry Horse, at least it was cheap.
  7. And breakfast this morning at our local Hungry Horse pub.
  8. Beautiful 10 course tasting menu at Lunar restaurant last night. Superb.
  9. We got £150 OBC for our Ventura cruise at the end of October. Fully paid select fare using fcc. It does say up to £150 so I guess it is cabin grade dependent.
  10. Wasn’t it very wet in the summer of 69? Great to know that everything he sings, he sings it for you. 🥴
  11. My sister and hubby arrived back from a 2 week Princess cruise to Norway on Saturday and have both tested positive since getting home. It is still out there and people are still becoming infected, despite precautions being put in place.
  12. An interesting or coincidental bit of management on a news programme I saw yesterday about the hot weather. Immediately following a report from a primary school in Liverpool, who were supervising young children applying sunscreen, small tubes of which had been given to the school because parents struggled to afford their own, they cut to Royal Ascot from where they reported that men were excused from wearing top hats and ties because of the heat. Surely a coincidental piece of reporting.😉
  13. If they are working on it, I wish they would get a move on. That would really hit the oil and energy companies in the pocket.
  14. Probably best to avoid an overlooked balcony as well. 🫣😵
  15. I am probably showing my ignorance here but possibly someone will enlighten me. Self charge petrol / electric hybrids are becoming popular. I currently drive one. As a hybrid car recharges through regenerative braking, why can’t a full electric car do the same so that it recharges the battery as it is being driven to increase the maximum mileage on a full charge. Maybe this already happens on some models and still they have limited range.
  16. Was the gold colour in any way influenced by the rust desperately trying to break though the paint? I have vivid memories of cars rusting as soon as I took my eyes off them and fibreglass patches that I stuck over the sanded down rust and painted with a spray can of approximately the same colour paint.
  17. As Josy says, yes it is and more so if you pay it off at the first possible opportunity. Obviously it is not the lowest rate around but I think it is more than competitive. To call it inflated is a bit severe, many paying more could say it is deflated. 🥴🚘
  18. I have been, some of us have to. 😊. The sea was a bit of a distraction though. We have a big boat / platform thing offshore checking and mending underwater cables.
  19. Soft cuddly ladies or pink birds? A bit of a dark horse aren’t you. 😱 🐴
  20. Long waits for delivery are another reason why test drives may not be possible. Fortunately the wait time for my new car was only about 6 weeks because it is the only one in the country that was available when I bought it and fortunately, in a colour we were happy with. Otherwise it would probably have been late autumn. It seems as though reductions in cost are increasingly associated with other products. 5 years free servicing means well over £1000 saving for me but will cost the garage much less. £1500 discount was only available if I paid the balance using Honda finance (at only 5% APR) and don’t pay it off for at least 6 months. It is definitely a seller’s market but still worth trying to get a discount or extras as a sweetener.
  21. Beautiful morning here in North Wales as well. You must be one of very few people in the South West in walking distance of a hospital.
  22. I have had a Toyota CHR hybrid, thought it was excellent and would be happy with another one, but then we got a dog and need somewhere for him to travel. The CRV has a big hatchback and they fitted a dog guard for it. The luggage goes on the back seat and the dog travels in style in the hatchback. The sacrifices we make for our pets🤔
  23. I presume the Toyota is self charging as you drive which I see as an advantage but I don’t know whether the other two you mention are the same or whether they are plug in hybrids. Have you thought about a Honda self charging hybrid? I had an ex demo Honda CRV hybrid for about 2.5 years and have just traded it in for a new one. I had never really considered an automatic gearbox until I got one, now I cannot ever see myself going back to a manual.
  24. I seem to be in a minority of one in my opinion about the concert, not for the first time. Glad others enjoyed it though.
