Good grief! You had an adventure for sure! The memories you now have to share!!!
Bottom line, the weather makes the rules in Greenland and most other places.
And from the internet, the answer as to how fast a polar can run…
And they can swim 6mph
I have been to Svalbard. (Next for us, will be Iceland and Greenland). Svalbard is humbling and gives you goosebumps. Literally and figuratively.
Some photos to whet your appetite. Alas the Explorer, that quirky old dame, is no longer with Silversea. Been replaced by some younger models…
I guess I don't understand. Why would most of the pax ask for a refund? Its an expedition isn't it? How can Silversea or any other cruise line for that matter, control the weather or other conditions. It isn't like going to Disneyland with artificially created hazards one can turn off and on.
Lunch or dinner at Trattoria da'a Marisa is lovely.

No menu.
You eat what they made for lunch.
mostly locals.
Off the beaten path.
Two books i am reading in preparation for upcoming trip to Greenland, This Cold Heaven and The Ice At The End Of The World.
Both fascinating reads.
Any other suggestions???
The hardest part is remembering all of the countries you have visited.
I did have to be interviewed, and it was at the tail end of the first covid wave.
Dr Spins did not have to be interviewed and had the experience you both did.
And speaking of Covid…seems like its on the increase in the USA once again.
We have boarded a cruise several days early, and paid for the extra mid cruise days. It was all arranged by our TA. It was not last minute. Maybe we were just lucky or just have a very good TA. It was post covid. And on Silversea.
Agree with Akrotiri visit. The island scenery is iconic. Otherwise Thera is really crowded and overpriced in high tourist season. Because of some rules, passengers must use the tenders operated by locals. Waiting time for the local boat can be long especially in the sun. We witnessed several people fall getting out of and into the boat as the sea was a bit rough.
In my experience this is the most casual night because many pax have traveled long distances and haven’t unpacked or are exhausted.
let us know if it continues…
is your cruise considered an expedition?
