  1. IF you are able to book Shore Excursions online using OBC, the currency conversion from US to Canadian dollars in place on the day will apply and you will pay in Canadian dollars. That rate will remain the same for any more excursions you book before embarkation. Once on board, the remaining balance of your OBC will appear as $US.
  2. Thanks for your willingness to answer questions while cruising! I enjoy reading real books on sea days and utilised the Library on Eclipse in December. 😊 Is there still a Library on Solstice and how well is it stocked? I have just read the Library has been replaced by cabins on Millennium Class ships. ☹️ Also just read Edge Class ships were built without a Library. ☹️
  3. A few disturbing posts for an avid reader of real books. I enjoyed the Library on Eclipse in December and hope it is similar on Solstice in October on another cruise with more sea days than port days. The library cart above looks pathetic!
  4. Technicians came on board towards the end of the Sydney to Perth cruise in February to install Starlink during the Perth to Hong Kong cruise.
  5. Your request will usually be honoured, but unfortunately not always. If you have your bag in by 9am, it is usually returned the following afternoon. I always request "cold wash, warm NOT HOT dry please 🙂" Including the smiley face as above. For anything I don't want to go through a dryer, I use the machines on deck 7.
  6. @Lighthousepointdream15 and @cruising sister Thank you both for your responses. 😊
  7. @jelayne and @Cap_D Thank you both for your responses. 🤩 Care on the Solstice Class ships was excellent and notes we had provided shoreside made it to Luminae, as well as our stateroom attendant and Butler.
  8. We have cruised on Solstice class ships in a Retreat suite with access to Luminae. On the Solstice class ships Luminae is on Deck 3 and the Main Dining Room is spread over Decks 3 and 4. I was able to order 24 hours in advance from either menu to ensure my meals presented no possibility of an allergic reaction. We are looking at cruises on an Edge class ship and are concerned that a similar arrangement may not be possible. Luminae is on Deck 12 and the Main Dining Room is spread over Decks 3 and 4. Hoping someone on the Forum may have relevant experience of looking after food allergies on this class ship.
  9. We always book our own flights. We choose our airline, flight times and stopovers, always arriving prior to embarkation day.
  10. We cruised on Eclipse during it's recent / current time around Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific Islands and found the food to be very good. In fact, our December cruise was an almost identical itinerary to the one you are now on as you head back to Sydney.
  11. We have done many B2B's and some included room changes which go very smoothly. From past experience : The day before changeover you should get a lot of written information and your new room cards. There is usually also a "back to back" meeting at which all is explained and questions can be asked. We usually choose to "sign off" with the old card and "sign on with the new card before leaving the ship to explore. If you want to leave earlier than 9 - and sometimes a bit later if some on the first cruise are a bit slow leaving - as the first cruise must be completely "finished" with all signed off before anyone can sign on for the new cruise - you can sign off as you leave the ship once it has been cleared - remember to take your new card with you to get back on. You will need to be back on the ship 90 minutes before the ship is due to sail and do the safety drill after re-boarding. New photos will be taken at which ever time you first have the card scanned.
  12. I guess you have not cruised from Japan, Australia or New Zealand during that time.
  13. Not necessarily - on a wine tasting tour in New Zealand several years ago, one of the wines had been opened the day before to allow it to breathe adequately before pouring. I haven't come across too many that benefit from that length of time, but the wine in question was excellent. We often leave half a bottle to the next day at home - some of those do improve, although resealed for most of the 24 hours or so.
  14. A reasonable question by @floridafolks to a cruiser who will dock before @floridafolks cruise commences if they have ever been on a cruise where the advertised docking area has changed. It has happened to us on two occasions, one in Barcelona, where we were inexplicably not docked where we expected to be at WTC and one in Valletta, where we were docked without prior notice on the opposite side of the Grand Harbour and the Hotel Director had to arrange at extremely short notice, ferry transfer to the side we expected to be, below the Upper Barrakka Gardens, where all the shore excursions departed!

    New website.

Perhaps the down time for the system should not have been 16 to 20 March 2023, but 16 March 2023 to 20 March 2024. 🤔
  16. The space around the bed in the separate bedroom of a CS is quite tight, also most of the hanging space in the suite requires access past the bed.
  17. Have you not seen this thread : https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2912841-new-website/page/13/#comment-65112897

    New website.

I found my Loyalty number and (incorrect) points also. Missing 172 points - some for a cruise on Quest that had not been added in the month between the end of the cruise and website separation and the others appear to equate to an early December 2022 cruise on Celebrity that were there for the few months before the website separation on 16 March. 🤔

    New website.

I clicked on my initial and then upcoming cruises (although I don't have any at the moment) and found the information - not correct - missing a chunk of points!
  20. The shower curtains have been replaced with a heavier fabric which gives a much better experience.
  21. Pardon my cynicism, but, good luck with that! We have tried without success to have the volume reduced to a safe level on several cruises over a few years since the escalation in volume first started.
  22. Have you seen this thread which was started yesterday? https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2926791-final-price-increased-by-over-3000-celebrity-refuses-to-honor-it/page/2/
  23. We are also Elite Plus and enjoyed most of our 31 cruises with Azamara for the same reasons given above by @Cruisewilm However around 2018 on Azamara, the music volume started to increase to a dangerous decibel level (85) and although we had enjoyed dancing in the evenings, that enjoyment dropped off and on our most recent in February, after a few days we avoided entertainment areas during performance times, after finding that on most occasions 85 decibels was the minimum, which increased at times to 100 decibels. Although the problem was discussed with staff "nothing could be done." A direct contrast was on Celebrity in December, where a sound technician would check levels prior to each bracket and the decibel level did not exceed 80, which we were able to enjoy.

    New website.

Very pleased to not be cruising in the near future - I can do without all the uncertainty those who are cruising soon are experiencing. Lack of points and loyalty on the new website are minor problems - I guess they may appear some time this year!
