SDPadreFan Posted January 14, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2009 "Tequila" was a number 1 hit (for 5 weeks) by "The Champs" back in 1958. It spent 16 weeks on the Top 40. Lots of good "Mexico style" music was produced by Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass.

mytime53 Posted January 18, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 18, 2009 One version of "Tequila" is by Brooks and Dunn. I heard "Turn it Off," by Eric Durrance for the first time this week, and thought it's a great one for getting in the vacation mode (especially after reading the posts by people fed up by cell phones on vacation. Elvis did a song called "Mexico." Several artists have recorded "South of the Border." You might include anything by Santana, as Carlos Santana was born in Jalisco (the state that PV is in). Jalisco is the home of mariachi music, so you might want to include some of the more popular ones:
Cielito lindo
Allá en el rancho grande Una paloma blanca not traditional, but now popular is Macarena And my personal favorite is "Good to Go to Mexico," by Toby Keith. I was used to going to Mexico 1-2 times a year, but couldn't go for 2 years because of cancer treatments. This song came out that first year of treatment, and it was my "fantasy" song that kept me going.
