Another new port for us! Hooray, this cruise is awesome. :D

Pride docked in St Thomas about 8, and I stumbled out of bed to grab a breakfast burrito from Blue Iguana. This was my view as I ate.

 

 

 

I absolutely LOVE waking up in St. Thomas - stepping out on the balcony to that view! ;) :D

I found out that the Pizza Pirate, hate when you ask to put green peppers on a pizza. no idea why. :rolleyes:

They don't have the green peppers there. They have to go over to the salad bar. The pizza guys have always taken our salad bar veggies to put into the pizza.

I figured it was something like that. They have those containers with all the toppings and I don't remember seeing green peppers. Good idea and nice of you to bring your own!

How about a picture of the snazzy crocs? I am missing swimming in the Caribbean. My parents live at the Jersey shore and they say "they have their own ocean to swim in." Just ain't the same, no way, no how, never will be! :eek::rolleyes:

I remember you! Man, the Breeze....that cruise seems like soooo long ago! I told Chris we need to go back on that ship as I remember LOVING that cruise, but I feel like I didn't have time to do everything in just 6 short days!

The Breeze in November 2017 is on our short list...Trying to coordinate with 2 other couples on dates before finalizing.

What a great review! The Pride is definitely our favorite ship ( and living 15 minutes from the port doesn't hurt at all).

Being a caesar salad affecionado, I was disappointed with Carnival's MDR version for several cruises. Then I started ordering extra dressing on the side and it made all the difference in the world.

Ugh after cruising, I will not be swimming at our beaches anymore. I love the clear, pretty water of the Caribbean!

I am jealous that you live so close to a port! Our nearest one is 4 hours. I will try the tip about extra dressing on the side next time we cruise.

Today was a port that I was very excited about, Dominica! I realized that not many Carnival sailings called on this port, and I figured we won't get to visit this island very often on future cruises. As we pulled into port, the views were beautiful.

We were docked and cleared at about 9:30, and our excursion (Emerald Pool and Beach Pleasures) was to meet at 10:30. We grabbed a quick breakfast from Lido, and then went and grabbed our items from the room. Let's get this shore excursion started!

Our guide for the day was Keisha, and our bus driver was Shadow. Keisha was very nice and knowledgeable. First, they took us to an overlook (sorry I forgot the name of it) where we could see the port and a cricket stadium.

We then took a drive thru the botanical gardens, which were very pretty. As we continued on to the Emerald Pool Keisha shared history on her country and answered any questions we had. It was probably about an hour long drive before we got to the Emerald Pool. Once there, we had a 15 minute hike to get to the pool. It wasn't a bad hike, but if you have mobility issues then it would be challenging. The hike was worth it to see the waterfall.

We were allowed about 10 to 15 minutes to take pictures and swim in the pool if we wanted to. Chris and I both eagerly got in, and let me say, that water was COLD! We stayed in for a few minutes, then go back out to hike back to the bus. We figured that our next stop, Mero Beach, would be more suitable for swimming.

Our bus ride to Mero Beach took about 45 minutes. That was one thing I wasn't too crazy about with this tour, a lot of time was spent on the bus going from place to place. We still enjoyed ourselves though, and soon enough we were at a black volcanic sand beach.

We were provided with a lounge chair, an umbrella, and a free drink. I got a rum punch, and it was OK. Then we set our stuff on our loungers and went to check out the water.

All in all, I was not impressed with this beach. I think some of our earlier ports spoiled me in terms of water quality, as the water at this beach was cloudy and I felt dirty getting in it.

I waded in about up to my thighs, then got out and sat on my lounger for the time we were to spend there (I think it was about an hour). Chris got hungry and went and got some chicken and rice, he said it was good.

After our time at the beach we had a 45 minute ride back to the ship. Keisha kept us entertained, and I have to say, she was an excellent guide!

Once back to the port, Chris and I went in search of our Christmas ornament. We found one, and at 4 we decided to get back on board. That was when I had an interesting experience. See, Dominica was a port that they advised you wear insect repellent, and since we were hiking in a rainforest to Emerald Pool, I figured I better wear some for sure. Well, it seems that the chemicals in my insect repellent and my sunscreen had some kind of reaction, and when I wore my Sail & Sign card on my lanyard under my shirt and it touched my skin, it completely erased all the ink off my card! I started freaking out, thinking that I was going to have trouble getting back on the ship. Luckily the guy at the port was very understanding and let me through with my license and blank Sail & Sign card. The crew member scanning the cards though was not so nice. The barcode of course was gone off my card, so it would not scan. He threw his hands in the air and made a fuss over it. I finally had to give him my name, cabin number, and some other info and he let me onboard with instructions to go to Guest Services immediately to get a new card. The worker there was very nice and had a new card made for me in no time at all. Seriously....I think she took my old card, shredded it, and had a new one made in less than 2 minutes. Hooray!

We cleaned up and got ready for dinner at about 5:45. We were in Liza's section again tonight at a table for 2. I only got pictures of our main dishes, but for starters I got the Caesar salad and the spinach and artichoke dip. I refused to give up on my beloved Caesar salad, and tonight, it was worth it! It was yummy. The spinach and artichoke dip with pita chips was also phenominal, I highly recommend it.

For my main course, I could not decide between the smoked pork loin or the port of call dish, which was something like La Bandera. The smoked pork loin in my opinion was disgusting, except for the yams.

The port of call dish on the other hand...oh my gosh, it was delicious! I ate every single bite of it.

I also got a side order of creamed spinach. Mmmm, it was yummy.

After dinner Chris and I decided to catch the 7:15 comedy show with Tim Young. We saw him in October on the Splendor and enjoyed him then, and he did another great performance tonight. Then we wandered on up to the Piano Bar, and although Rob was playing and doing a great job, it just seemed dead in there tonight. We went down to see what the second PG comedy show was about, but it seemed lame to us, so we decided to catch Epic Rock: The Concert in the Taj Mahal at 10:15. Now, I will warn you: we saw Epic Rock on the Sunshine, and it is BY FAR my FAVORITE production show on Carnival ships. I grew up listening to the songs that they sing, and when I found out that they were going to do it on this sailing on Pride I got just an iddy, biddy bit excited. :D I was probably bouncing up and down in my seat like a little kid. We went and saw it, and even though they did not have all the fancy props that the ships that normally perform this show have, the Playlist cast did a fantastic show for us. I sang along to some of the songs and enjoyed every second of the performance.

We wandered up to Lido for Chris to get his daily ice cream fix, and the Lido was lit up all pretty tonight.

We called it a day shortly before midnight. Luckily, I could sleep in a little tomorrow as our excursion didn't meet until 10. :D

Today was another port day that I was really looking forward to, but you guys are not going to be too happy with me about. We were in St Lucia, and our excursion was a catamaran cruise to the Pitons. Since it was a catamaran, and since I sat on the netting, for most of the ride and since my phone was my primary device for taking photos...I have hardly any photos for you all today. :( I didn't want to drop my phone thru the netting and into the deep blue water below! I have some photos, just not a bunch, sorry guys. Anyway...let's get this port day started, shall we?

Pride docked in St Lucia at 8, and we woke up at around that time. I stumbled up to Blue Iguana for my breakfast burrito, then went back to the room and gathered our bag and items for the day. Our excursion met on the pier at 10, and it was a 4 hour catamaran cruise to the Pitons. We all boarded the catamaran, and away we went!

We stopped at a beach for a 30 minute swim break, and the water felt wonderful. It was pretty clear and a great little break in the catamaran ride. Then we got back on board to cruise along some more.

We turned around and cruised on back to the Pride. It was a nice, relaxing excursion, however, I do wish they would have given us a swim break on the way back to the ship. They turned on music, and throughout the whole excursion we had access to free drinks (water, soda, rum punch) and bananas.

We got back to the pier at 2:15 and went to do a little shopping. Once we found our ornament we got back onboard and went to Guy's for a late lunch. My burger was Ok, but I think this was the last one I had for the cruise as I felt they were not as good as on other ships. I did enjoy some soft serve ice cream before going back to the cabin to nap. :)

I woke up about 6:45, and Chris was ready for dinner so we went to the MDR about 7:15. Bad news though: I didn't take any food pictures tonight. We ended up eating with another couple that we had become friends with, so with the good conversation pictures were forgotten. Oops. I do know that we ordered Caesar salads to start, and I was disappointed with mine tonight, and we ordered the Chicken fried steak and the Caribbean Pepper steak. I thought that the Chicken Fried steak was just nasty, but I LOVED the Caribbean Pepper steak! It was delicious! To top it all off I got Chocolate Melting Cake for dessert, and it was perfect again tonight. :D

We finished dinner at 8:45, too late to hit the Heart and Soul show in the Taj Mahal. Yes, we could have made the late showing, but I knew tonight would be an early night for me. These port days one after another were wearing me down! Andy was playing in the atrium, so we stopped to listen to him.

After hearing Andy play for a little bit we turned in.

Today was the last of the ports that I was super, duper stoked to visit on this cruise. Sure, I was looking forward to all the new port stops for Chris and I, but Martinique was one that sounded fascinating to me for some reason. We were docked and cleared at 8:55, but we did not have to meet our excursion until later. We ate breakfast on Lido, then went and got ready for the day. Chris and I were off the ship and on the pier to meet our excursion (St Pierre-A Historic City) at 10. Our guide for the day was Cathy, and she said St Pierre is "her" city as she lives there, so she was a perfect guide for today!

Once we were all on our tour bus, we hit the road. Our first stop was to visit an old church, and it was beautiful!

The church was gorgeous. The pictures do not do it justice.

We re-boarded our bus and headed to our next stop, which was a rum distillery. On our way there Cathy had us stop at a river for 5 minutes to stretch our legs and get fresh air. The river was not anything great or picture worthy. We rode for probably an hour until we got to the rum distillery, where we got to learn how they make the rum.

After seeing the rum making process, the best part of the tour came: samples!! We each got 2 samples, one was coconut flavored, and the other...well, it about knocked me on my butt, let's just say that! The coconut one was delicious, and after sampling we wandered the gift shop. I got some vanilla for my Grandma, and then we all got back on the bus to head to St Pierre!

For those who don't know, St Pierre was destroyed by a volcano eruption and only one man survived, and that is because he was in an underground prison. The city has since rebuilt, but a lot of the ruins remain. Our excursion took us to the museum, which was interesting, and then to the remains of the old theater, which once had people from nearby islands come to see shows. It was an interesting tour.
