Ventura and the Bay of Biscay ?

I would have expected it to be pretty smooth. As is common at this time of year, the charts show a very slack pressure gradient over the region, with no deep depressions anywhere in sight.

I have crossed the area of sea which people think of as the Bay but actually isn’t many times 50+ at all times of year and you can get flat calm in all months and choppy in all months. Our best was on Dec 28th about 6/7 years ago on our way to the Canaries.

Worst was in Oct 2002 on the old Arcadia.

Agree with Dai, have crossed the Bay many times, both in a small sailing boat and in a cruise ship. Have had smooth passages in autumn and winter and a couple of rough passages in the summer, so you just cannot tell.
