Here's a first for me

Just received an email from Carnival stating I can get an upsell from a verandah inside casino fare cabin to an empress deck balcony for $414. This is on a Glory April sailing.

I've received a few upsell phone calls but never an upsell email. Even states the available balcony, #7431.

I'm solo, so I'll ignore the offer. I could even lose the premeir casino perks if I take it, so not an attractive inducement.

Is the email upsell something new? Anyone else?

We have taken upsells on premiers and never lost our perks. We even took an upsell on our last ultra. Our stuff from the casino sometimes has been left in the first cabin we booked, but easily taken care of by the casino hosts. And all of our upsells recently have been via email.

Hope you have a wonderful cruise!

We booked the Magic for June back in December. Early saver. Couple weeks later got the new premier offers so called them and changed the booking to the premier with the cash and perks and no penalty (just had to pay higher deposit). About a week after that got an e-mail upsell for a balcony. Called and took the upgrade and stayed under the premier booking. As long as the premier offer (or any casino offer) is still available for that cruise you can upgrade without losing the premier benefits.

evandbob: I'm on your sailing and looks like quite a few cabins still left. Unusual to see Captain's suites, grand suites and even a wraparound balcony still available.

Incidentally, it looks like the cabin you were quoted is the last aft section balcony on deck 7 still available.

We have 2 cruises booked and I got an email for our upcoming September cruise. They offered me an upgrade from a cove balcony midship to an aft balcony on the 8th deck for $40. I turned it down. We love our cove balconies and since I suffer from motion sickness, I won't sail in an aft cabin again... lol.

I've gotten them a few times, and one today as a matter of fact. Upgrade from interior to a balcony for $400+. That's half the cost of the Cheers package - so we are sticking with our interior room midship and putting the money towards the package.

I recently got an upsell email offer to move from a cove balcony to a regular balcony. I just deleted, as we want the cove. I have no idea if I've gotten upsell phone calls, as I don't answer if I don't know the name/number. If it's important, they'll leave a message (they rarely do).

I got one too, and I was so hopeful. We currently have a 4J on Deck 6, and the upgrade was to an Oceanview on Deck 1 for $72. Not interested in being that low, but since oceanview and balcony are currently the same rate to book, I'd hoped for a good deal on a balcony upgrade. $370 for that which I think is more than it would have cost me to book balcony in the first place.

Ah well.

Maybe see you at a M&G? I'll definitely be haunting the casino as well......
