Just a heads up - Embassy Suites was open after the hurricane, but i received an email today that my reservation was cancelled. On the website there is no availability from January through the end of March, 2018 - ironically, the first available date is the day after i needed it...

Sorry to hear that.

We gave up on hotels in SJU for our January cruise. Changed the flights 6-8 weeks ago, now flying into MIA a few days pre-cruise and then to SJU early the morning of the cruise.

We love San Juan and have stayed there many times, but decided it wasn't worth worrying about hotel situatioin.

We did enjoy our port day there on Celebrity a couple weeks ago:)

Wow, they’re still planning to be closed through March [emoji15]

I booked my hotel for this coming summer a year in advance, and before the hurricanes. I got a price that is half of what they are charging now, but they still aren’t open.

After the hurricane happened I booked back-up hotel nights in Orlando in case they don’t open, and I will just change my flights to go to San Juan 2 days later than I planned (I fly southwest so I can change my flights easily).

I was actually contemplating cancelling the back-up hotel a few days ago, but I guess I won’t.

Condado Plaza Hilton just notified me that they are not accepting guests until June 30. I was booked there for May 5th. Ended up booking the La Concha Renaissance. Per reviews on Trip Advisor, they are accepting guests now.

We stayed at AC Hotels by Marriott Dec 30 - Jan 1, and it was nice. We were able to walk to restaurants and you can use the beach and pool at the San Juan Marriott Stellaris for no charge. It's about 3-4 blocks away.

we booked sheraton...

I did too, but it’s not open yet I don’t believe. Their website says they won’t be taking reservations until after November 2017, but then another part of their website says after January 8th. As far as I know it still isn’t open and I’ve seen no updates on their progress, so it’s still up in the air as far as I know.

After reading this thread I decided to book a back-up hotel. My first reservation is for Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel & Casino and I just booked Hampton Inn (Isla Verde Ave). I plan to confirm with both before the cancellation period expires.

I just did the same. We’ve had a reservation at Sheraton Old San Juan for a 1-night stay ahead of our May sailing. After calls to both Hotels.com and Sheraton, I’m assured all is well...and it may be. But given some of the comments in this thread I needed an “insurance policy”. So I made a 2nd reservation at the Intercontinental (Isla Verde) and will check both about May 1.

They cancelled my reservation as well for mid March although they gave me no notice 😡...just happened to find out via Hilton app.

Contacted corporate & had my reservation reinstated with original price...as now on website price had doubled.
