Flying in pre cruise, need transportation ideas from FLL to hotel then from hotel to port. Here is the catch we have a 4 year old and don't want to bring a car seat.

Easily would say Uber but without the car seat probably not the safest option.

Any ideas????

We've easily used and would recommend South Florida Shuttles when traveling with our extended family that included our two toddler grandchildren (3 & 4), that needed carseat transportation. Our most recent experience with them was last March for our Harmony cruise.

There are travel booster seats available - check Amazon, target, etc.

The airline will check your seat for free if you choose not to use it on the flight. Bringing your own seat is the only way to be sure that the seat is properly sized, installed and maintained.

No seats required by law on the larger shuttle busses used by some hotels -- check www.sunny.org for a hotel that offers both port and airport shuttles.

The cruise line transfer bus is always an option.

Search the family cruise board to see what others have done when travelling with toddlers.

Good luck! :)

We have always brought a car seat/booster seat for our kids when travelling. It's much safer on the plane, keeps them in their seat better (since they're used to having to be in it), and makes finding shuttles/Ubers so much easier. Some rental agencies will even store the seat for you so you don't have to take it on the boat, but when we have had to do that it hasn't been an issue. Just shove it under the bed/in the closet.

Most car/shuttle services will provide car seats upon request. You just need to indicated that you need one when setting up the service.

If your child is already using a booster seat, I’d recommend a “Bubble Bum”. It’s an inflatable travel booster seat. We purchased these for our now 6 and 8 year old kids a few years ago and that’s what we use for pretty much all of our travels. Very compact when not inflated and it fits easily in a corner of our suitcase.

We took an actual car seat only one time when our first child was less than 2 years old, but since then we’ve ditched it. In general, they are an absolute waste of space when it will only be used for the short ride from the airport to the hotel or the port. As mentioned above, there are other options that take the hassle away from carrying a car seat.

I just did a bit of research and found out he will be of size and weight to use a booster. We will probably use that since they are small and light. We will also use it on the flight.

We just got back from a disney cruise and we used a car seat on the flight which worked out well. and had adjoining cabins with extra space so it was easy to store on the ship. Next year we won't have the space nor will we have the long drive from the airport to the port so we are just planning ahead.

Since you're opting for a booster...do check with the airlines your using...they can be very restrictive with the type of booster FAA allows. We opt to use the CARES system on flights.
