We will be visiting Roatan in a week. It is the only port we do not have plans for. We thought we would go to the beach by port - now I see Carnival has an excursion to that beach that is sold out. Can we go on our own? Will there be beach chairs available?

Personally, I really want to go to Little French Key, having a hard time convincing the rest of the group.

Convince one of them, the 2 of you take off to LFK and leave the rest behind to fend for their uncooperative selves. lol Other than that, in my experience, you never need to book an excursion to go to a public beach, assuming it's public. If the ship is sold out though, chairs and space might be a problem. No one can really say for sure. But Roatan is known for its snorkeling so how about that as an alternative option? The Jolly Roger catamaran should be available as they have a huge capacity. Or zip lining. Or going through something like the Victor Bodden tour company. He has great reviews, is reasonably priced, you could probably get a private car and you can design the entire thing. Good Luck!

You don't require an excursion to go to Mahogany Bay Beach. You can walk or pay the $14pp to take the flying chairs. Beach chairs are available at no cost.

This is actually a very enjoyable way to spend a "beach day" unless someone really wants to snorkel. :D
