Solo sailing

Is there anyway in the search engine for this site to get only listings for available solo/single rates with either 0 or reduced single cabin fares? The singles cruise option pulls up both solo and "singles" cruises, but i want to find cruises with only myself in the cabin, hopefully without a penalty.

Unless you are booking a solo cabin (there are a small number of those out there...NCL, for example), you are not going to get a standard cabin for two for the price of one. It ain't going to happen.

The best you might do is 50% off the second fare, but I think realistically, you will be lucky to get 25% off the second fare.

Hi

Welcome to cruise critic.

The answer to your question is yes. This website does not allow naming certain other types of websites, but if you google "cruises with low (or no) single supplement" it will certainly come up. They will have a list of "singles sailings", but if you do just a regular cruise search, it does have a filter that allows you to see the single supplement fares for all the cruises.

As mentioned most cruise lines will normally charge double, but some cruise lines don't. Some, like NCL will have a single occupancy cabin, with amenities that some like. However, if it is a cruise with "no" single supplement, you might be better off getting a regular cabin. Other companies may have varying amounts of the supplement.

You will have to spend some time researching. Definitely, you need to be flexible in your schedule. There is a section on this website with threads specifically dedicated to "solo cruising". If you go to the "board home" page and scroll down you will find this. You can also just call cruise lines that you may be interested in and get yourself a personal vacation planner/specialist (whatever they call themselves with that company) and tell that person you are looking for a cruise with low or no single fare supplement and ask if they could help you.

good luck

have a great cruise

An expanding number of cruise lines now have single cabins. There are others, but these are the ones I am aware of - P&O, NCL, Cunard, Fred Olsen, RCCL, HAL.

If you want a double cabin expect a premium of 50 - 100%.

You may find additional cruise lines by doing a Google search, as per the previous response.

In my opinion, focusing on the so-called "single supplement" is a red herring. By shopping based on it you will simply limit your choses.

Instead, I would decide what you are willing to pay per day and shop based on that metric. For example, I usually shop for cruises under $200 per day (including any "supplement"). I am almost always a solo traveller.
