QE2 - detailed deck plans?

Can anybody help with detailed deck plans of the QE2? The cruise specialist on board used to have them, showing the exact layout of every cabin including beds, wardrobes etc.

Are they available somewhere on the net?

Every help would be appreciated.

Many times there is copy available for purchase on ebay. Do a search for "deck plan" and "cunard qe2". You should come up with something. Mind you these plans are from QE2's earlier days, but for the most part the cabins have not changed.

Good luck!

Hi carl

If you'd like, I can give you the email, and address of a chap who sells this kind of stuff.

Well known, and has great prices too.

Not saying he has the deck plans in stock as we speak, but when he does have them, they're usualy 1st quality.

Have a good weekend

I have not seen a recent set of detailed deck plans that indicate the furniture arrangement in the cabins. However, the stateroom arrangements on Deck 1 through Deck 5 have remained basically the same since the ship first entered service. Thus, an older set of deck plans works fine for carefully examining these cabins. I use a set of very detailed deck plans from 1971 when selecting a cabin on this ship. I purchased my deck plans from a memorabilia dealer, but these are frequently available on eBay.

Gary,

I know you are very curious about your cabin, but most of the detailed deck plans predate the addition of your suite. I do have a set of plans, but I'm pretty sure they date from the 70's too. I just have to find them and I'll report back.

Well I found my set of plans. They date from 1978 and do include the first set of suites added, but not the few additional ones 8011-8019 which were added in a secondary phase.

8004 and 8006 were originally known as the Westminster Suite and have an adjoining door, and while 8004 shows 2 beds, 8006 shows only one. I'm sure that has changed and you will have 2 beds convertible into one large one.

As you enter 8006 the bathroom, complete with bidet will be on your left, and closets to the right. There is less detail for these closets than for the Q3's which show full detail of the walk in closets, including refrigerator and wardrobe.

As you enter the main cabin space, the bed will most likely be against the left wall with a nightstand on each side. Drawers appear to be against the right wall and a dressing table/vanity against the far balcony wall. The door to the balcony is to the left beyond the bed. But since these plans are 25 years old, who knows what you will find. I can't imagine that you will not have a walk in closet.

Carl, all are C5's, right. From my '78 plans here are the details:

2139 - entrance hallway then bathroom to the left, which appears to have more room than the deck 4 baths, then narrow hall going towards the porthole showing 3 wardrobes on the left, then 2 beds to the right with small chest in between. Finally a small chest of drawers and a fourth wardrobe at the porthole wall, with a little room to spread out in. Probably a chair there too, but not specifically shown.

4145 - One long hallway from door to porthole wall, everything in room to the right, bathroom, 2 large wardrobes, alcove for 2 beds with nightstand, then large open area with either a chest of drawers, dressing table,or settee horizontal against wall below porthole. Maybe a little more square footage than 4245. Check that link above. Excellent.

4245 - same long straight hall to window. bath on the left, alcove for beds on the left, then either 3 or 4 wardrobes, then slightly smaller open area with settee. Curvature of the stern seems to take away from the length of cabin, but possibly wider than 4145.

I've stayed in room 4145. It is one of those long and narrow rooms. A lot of space is wasted by the large wardrobes. One advantage is that it is fairly open at the porthole.

There are some larger rooms, such as 4143 right next door, al though the sq feet seem to be the same.
