Grand Turk??? Some ships have come back from there recently, after the hurricanes.

Looking for information on the island and its overall appearance. Damage? Excursions?

 

Sailing in January.. Any information would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!!

From past experience the port area will be open ,the island itself not so much.:(

Was just there last week..if you walk 100 yards down the beach you see damage...beach itself is pristine except for the area that is near margaritaville.

Seems it's open enough ... only allowing one ship in the port at the time.

Margaritaville is now open. Karib with golf cart, etc. rentals isn't.

Seems Jack's Shack is open once again.

Looks like Jacks shack is open from facebook posts. Cant wait to visit when we cruise on the splendor and talk to jack again. He actually was the engineer that helped build the port there. Looking sooooo forward to hopping on the ship!!!!!

I didn't know that ? Did he work through Carnival ?

I have read some first hand account on the Grand Turks Ports Of Call Board which have been positive.

He worked for an engineering company that Carnival hired to build the port. DH was talking to him about his career and it turned out that both of them worked for marine engineering companies in the Great Lakes at one time.

Uh-oh. What happened to the beach near Margaritaville?

 

 

OP, according to reports on the GT port of call board, they've planted "hundreds" of palm trees to replace the ones that were leveled, the immediate port area is in good shape, and Margaritaville and Jack's Shack are both open, with limited menus. Topher the dog is still trying to dig to China. :)

 

However, there are still downed power lines all over the island and some areas only recently got power restored (last week). There are conflicting reports that Karib golf-cart rentals is up and running; one person said they rented from them last week, another said they were not offering bookings through 2018.

I received an email from Karib today. They are not accepting any new reservations but they are honoring reservations to the end of the year.
