Rare pierces Posted September 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2017 20.1 MP 24-600 f/2.4 - f/4 24 FPS (JPEG or RAW) with tracking and exposure up to 249 frames Stupid fast AF .03 sec Stacked 1" sensor with increased readout speed to reduce video panning distortion 315 Phase-detect points with 65% coverage Full sensor oversampled 4K video $1699 (ouch!) - But, it could conceivably replace a lot of equipment. Still not for me, but if one does a lot of still plus video, this is the premier camera in it's class. Dave

Victress2007 Posted September 12, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2017 I wonder if the RX10 III will drop in price. I could be happy with that as my backup camera. Wowsers! Vic

tommui987 Posted November 2, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 2, 2017 I wonder if the RX10 III will drop in price.Vic Vic: I just got a used X10 III on e-Bay for $850. Had I known that it was heavier than my A6300 with a 50mm lens, I might have had second thoughts! It is intended to replace the Pannie FZ200. That camera sells around $50-75 on e-Bay and I think it is still a great camera!

Still not for me, but if one does a lot of still plus video, this is the premier camera in it's class. Dave I just purchased the Sony DSC RX10 II for $1,198 (no sales tax or shipping, and it included a shoulder bag, memory card and Hoya UV filter). I don't need the 600 mm zoom that comes with the RX III and RX IV, and most of the other features I use are the same. I read all the reviews of the RX II and looked at the sample images, and am very impressed with the camera in the short time I have had it. Since I'm not yet ready for a full-frame camera and love Sony products (I have an Alpha 65 and ILCE 3000), the RX II will be my primary camera from here on out . . . Mr. Click Posted June 24, 2018 #10 Share Posted June 24, 2018 Sorry. My camera fund was just struck down by the hammer of Thor...a.k.a. The A7 III. Sigh... Dave And mine is sadly dented by Bermuda, the Eastern Med, Cuba and then taking the whole family to Alaska in 2020 for our 50th....just glad the family is our only child and his wife and two kids..... That said, I need to get over the WPPI in the spring and see this one and the newer Canon offerings and maybe make the move from my 5DIII and three heavy lenses.
