Balaena Posted November 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 26, 2017 A question for those of you who cruise Cunard regularly. Do you have a Personal Cruise Advisor in the Southampton call centre? We are P&O passengers err guests and until Mid year had the services of a PCA which was great as he knew all about our booking requirements without asking. This facility was then removed for all P&O regulars so now we have to take pot luck with who is available in the call centre. Does the same apply to our posher cousins who regularly travel Cunard .. smiles. Bal

Summergee Posted November 26, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 26, 2017 I have one with Cunard, but she is not usually available when I call. She did call me recently to see if I would be interested in Alaska.
Rare babs135 Posted November 26, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 26, 2017 As some one who tends to book solely on line with whoever is offering the best price what on earth is a personal cruise advisor? What exactly do they do and is it a service worth using?
cruiseluvva Posted November 26, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 26, 2017 We had one and she was incredibly helpful when we had to cancel due to our grand-daughter arriving over 3 months early, but just days after paying our final balance. Our insurance refused to commit to covering us until the week before travel, at which point Cunard quite understandably wouldn’t be able to help. Our PCA understood and sympathised with our situation and negotiated on our behalf. However, that was a direct booking, which is very unusual for us, as we normally book through a Cruise Agent, who is also worth her weight in gold and seems able to work miracles. If, and one does mean if, they are any problems, a short call or e-mail to her and forget about it - always resolved promptly. ...... (name) has become a friend and PCS to all our family. Sadly, don't think one is allowed to name the actual person on CC.

What exactly do they do and is it a service worth using? We were assigned a contact person with Cunard after booking on line sometime ago. Essentially, the personal cruise adviser serves as a single point of contact for issues and questions. The benefit we derived from this person for our latest transatlantic was (a) she was able to quickly and easily incorporate the OBC and deposit discount from our future cruise deposit made on board during our previous crossing, which is good because I have found no way to do that on-line when booking myself, and (b) she quickly took care of upgrading us when there was a price drop after we'd booked. What intrigues me is that the call centre handles both P&O and Cunard transactions but clearly they have kept some PCS separate to handle Cunard Customers and not P&O's. Is this your take on it. Guests do not have to get involved in the time consuming minutiae of cruising. Question - Did your P&O PCS move over to Cunard? If so, you can still retain them for Cunard bookings.
