Summit - Place to watch NCAA Tournament?

I'm going to be on the Summit next week, and I was wondering if there's any place on the ship (maybe one of the bars or the casino) that may be showing the NCAA tournament basketball games? This became a lot more important to me last night when my alma mater (NC State) won to advance to the Sweet 16. We may not be alive next Sunday, but if we are it would be nice to be able to watch the game some place.

The casino bar usually has games being broadcasted. It depends on what channel and feed (the cable only runs a certain distance before they have to disconnect it :rolleyes:).

And that leads to this question. Since our Spartans are also in the Sweet 16 and the Friday game MAY be on TBS instead of CBS ( which I know the Equinox will have), does anyone know if they can pick up that feed from TBS?

Don't know if it will be from TBS directly. Sometimes the feed will come thru a feed from another country using their network and announcers. If they have the volume up so you can hear it the game may be in Spanish or whatever language they use.

I hope that some cruisers this week will let us know what the broadcast are like with the Turner Networks.

I need to know also because we're cruising on the weekend of the final 4. It could be a Michigan State - Kentucky game on the Saturday we leave port.

The East region is a mess now. I have to believe that Michigan State is the favorite in that region now.

The only way Michigan State can play UK is in the championship game on Monday......we are flying to Ft Lauderdale on Sat late aft and didn't even think about the a Final Four when we booked our tickets. Looking to change our flight as there is a good chance that Wisconsin and UK could be playing that Sat....or hoping for wifi on the flight where we can watch it!!

Last fall on Summit, they had several sports channels available on the TV in the room. They were mostly ESPN, but showed content from other networks from time to time.

As for me, I'm rooting for the spread, no matter who's playing. ;)

We were returning from an Alaskan cruise and the Wings were playing in the finals for Stanley in 2008. We were switching flights in Denver with a 4 hour lay over and watching the game in the Sports bar enjoying a few suds along with many others from Detroit that were waiting for the same flight. It was game 6 and the Wings had a chance to end it playing against Pittsburg. The flight ended up being delayed but no one care and was happy for that. In between periods I went to the counter and asked how much longer the flight was going to be delayed and I think I really shocked her when I said that I am not complaining about it and would like to request that it be delayed longer so we can watch the rest of the game.

Sadly to say we started boarding before the game ended, but there was a pleasant surprise on board.

There were individual TV screens in the seat back that you could rent for a fee but it didn't mean that the game would be on. As soon as everyone was seated the captain announced that as a goodwill gesture for the delay they will show the Hockey game with no fee. The response from the passengers was only surpassed when the wings held off the Penguins in their last minute attempt to tie the game. When the clock showed zero the plane had to raise at least another 1000 ft as everyone just let out a burst of celebration for the Wings winning the game and the Stanley Cup.

Never been on a plane before where everyone was so happy about being delayed. The only thing that would have been better is if they gave us free champaign or beer.

Yep, I miss read the brackets. Looks like we have to deal with Wisconsin, if they get by Arizona, to get to the final. Sorry.:D

 

So does anyone know if the Saturday game will be televised on the ship?

I don't know for sure, but from what I've gathered the casino bar might be the best bet for watching the tourney. Also, I just noticed that the Saturday games are on TBS while the Sunday games are on CBS. Not sure if one station is better than the other in terms of the ship being able to show them.
