manmtnmike Posted February 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2007 We're thinking of booking our 2008 Jan- Feb cruise. Does Carnival have an "Adults only Cruise"? I think Celebrity X used to years ago. We love kids, but we left them behind to go cruising... I would have said "Couples Cruise" but I read the other board (Theme Cruises) that seems to imply more than we 've ever experienced... We certainly enjoy "fun loving couples" but not sure I'd call it a lifestyle, just our fantasy vacation and fun come to life. Any ideas?
mrdood Posted February 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2007 They tried it once, it was an adults only, no smoking, no gay, no swingers, no whiners, no drinking, no gambling cruise... Only five Mormons from Salt Lake signed up, so the cruise was cancelled....:p

manmtnmike Posted February 5, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted February 5, 2007 ok, subtract the mormans (not that there's anything wrong with that...) and add the whiners instead. But seriously, can't we find a cruise with like minded adults and "Ol' time rock and roll?"

There are some folks on the special interest boards that may interest you.
manmtnmike Posted February 5, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted February 5, 2007 Whoa! Sorry, poor choice of wording..."Just Adult cruising", leaving the wonderful kids at home.. Any suggestions?
MamaParrotHead Posted February 5, 2007 #7 Share Posted February 5, 2007 In a nutshell, Carnival doesn't offer any adults-only cruises. You need to just keep an eye on the calendar and go when kids are less likely to be out of school (which is what we do), which is also nice because it's usually cheaper then, too. We were on the Valor at the end of May, and didn't see a handful of kids. We're going at the end of April this year on Triumph, hoping for the same thing. I don't know of any lines that offer adults only, maybe some of the premium-higher end lines, but I'm not sure.
L2J Posted February 5, 2007 #8 Share Posted February 5, 2007 Whoa! Sorry, poor choice of wording..."Just Adult cruising", leaving the wonderful kids at home.. Any suggestions? LOL. There are some agencies out there who specialize in adults only travel...you can find them on google. Sadly the only line I've heard of that offers this is X but I'm not sure if they still do it or not and I believe it was only one cruise per year. DqALEX Posted February 5, 2007 #9 Share Posted February 5, 2007 For the price of a Carnival cruise, you are always going to find kids on a ship.

LHP Posted February 5, 2007 #13 Share Posted February 5, 2007 The closest you are going to get on Carnival is to cruise when school is in session which oddly enough ends up being the cheapest time to cruise as well. Now that is handy!!!
OhioJeff Posted February 5, 2007 #14 Share Posted February 5, 2007 X hasnt done them in a couple of years. read more here http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=360914&highlight=adults Most felt X didnt market them properly, plus anytime you exclude a group, you make it hard to sellout. The what if the adults dont want to sail that particular week. It just didnt work.
zaandam_2 Posted February 5, 2007 #15 Share Posted February 5, 2007 the saga line has a minimum age of 50. only a few years to go now... generally though, the longer the cruise the fewer the kids.
buddyjo143 Posted February 5, 2007 #16 Share Posted February 5, 2007 I think it depends too on how sensitive you are to kids and what you plan to do on the ship. DH and I cruised last year during a spring break and the only kids I noticed were when I purposely went to Camp Carnival to see what it was like for our upcoming family cruise. On the family cruise at Christmas I was so absorbed/concerned with our own nieces and nephews that I hardly noticed anyone else's kids. If you want to avoid the kids, have a later dinner seating, travel right when school is back in session and pick the longer cruise.

Only five Mormons from Salt Lake signed up, so the cruise was cancelled....:p Oddly enough, we cruised NCL a few years ago with a Mormon convention. The ship was full, but the casinos, disco, clubs, pools, etc. had the "just right" amount of ppl for fun without crowding - no chair hogs, either. Also, they had one whole dining room to themselves early seating, so the freestyle was no wait after about 8pm. We'd do it again in a heartbeat! brodie Posted February 5, 2007 #18 Share Posted February 5, 2007 September 30th out of L.A. on the Vision of the Seas. A friend told me about it, so I went online and tried to book a room with a kid and no luck. I was thinking of going. My only concern is that this might be one of those swingers cruises. Anyone out there know more on this cruise?

jetwet1 Posted February 6, 2007 #20 Share Posted February 6, 2007 Whoa! Sorry, poor choice of wording..."Just Adult cruising", leaving the wonderful kids at home.. Any suggestions? As others have said with CCL you are going to find kid's, just comes with the territory, however there are a few things you can do to minimize the kid factor. Late seating in the dinning room, non family friendly excursions and our personal fav, if you want to layout and don't have a balcony go up to the topless deck, very few people use it, no kids allowed, no loud music, just a nice place to relax and read a book while catching some rays. crusinsd Posted February 6, 2007 #21 Share Posted February 6, 2007 well since someone has already brought it up are there many "adult lifestyle" ( "swingers") on board an average cruise and how do they communicate with eachother?
