Uber to the port?

Anyone used Uber instead of a cab to Port. Say from Holiday Inn express on 17th to Port Everglades.

You can use the search function on this board to find many posts about Uber in FLL & Miami -- most of the reports are positive. Be careful about surge pricing.

Uber can go to the port. We used them from the port to home with no problem. I think there was a small port surcharge.

We took Uber from Extended Stay America on 17th street to Port Everglades. It was $5.80. The driver arrived in about 2 minutes. Uber is the way to go from your hotel to the port. Even if I had a free shuttle, I would take Uber.

Uber-X is fine for two people with luggage. It was $5.83 total, not per person. If you have 3 then Uber-X may not work with two bags each. You need to assume that you will be getting something like a Toyota Prius.

No, just take Uber-XL, they cost about 50% more, but they are large vans or SUVs.

I tried posting regarding my specific hotel (Hilton Beach Resort), but haven't gotten any replies...so I will try here.

Is Uber the way to go from FLL to the Hilton, and then from the Hilton to the port? Or should we be using a taxi? We are 4 people plus luggage.

With 4 plus bags (especially if any of you pack like my wife :o) you'll ned UberXL or a mini-van/SUV taxi. Fares should be pretty close - the van/SUV cabs charge the same as a standard taxi.

Uber is better than a cab. You pay by the app, no chance of a taxi scam.

I will never ever take another cab in Fort Lauderdale if Lyft or Uber is there!

Yes - unless you are travelling solo. FLL airport to PE in an UberX should be about $9-10 compared to $15+ for a taxi and $8-10+ per person in a shared shuttle.

Both the Uber app and website can give you quite accurate fare estimates.

If you have never used Uber, get a referral code from a friend (or use mine) and both get $15 off their first/next ride.
