Im thinking of going on a cruise with my 32 year old daughter who has mild learning disability, i need a cruise line that is mostly English spoken, on a medium size ship, possibly visiting greek isles.

Ive never cruised before, I do like a few drinks and my daughter dosent drink.

We dont like getting dressed up posh and prefer a casual atmosphere, but not a party ship either.

We wouldnt use climbing walls, zip lines ect but would like some evening show entertainment.

Any suggestions of companys and ships would be very much appreciated, flying from Belfast, thanks for any answers

Sounds like something that a travel agent should easily be able to help you with. He/she will be able to help you select a ship that fits your preferred style (and budget).

As for drinking, there's no reason your daughter couldn't enjoy a nonalcoholic drink or mocktail while you indulge in your favorite beverages.

Any of the "mass market" mainstream lines will give you that. There's no need to pay more for the bigger, newer ships with the "bells and whistles" if you have no interest in those things.

All of the mainstream lines have some sort of entertainment. All serve booze, but no one HAS to drink it! Few lines do ""formal nights" anymore. Slacks or a sundress, skirt, capris will be fine, even at dinner.

Definitely get a travel agent to round up all your potential itineraries...pick the one you like at a price you can bear!

Have a look at P&O's Oceana, which is in Malta over the summer season, and does different itineraries. I'm not sure whether they fly from Belfast, but certainly we met people from N.I. on board this spring, who were flying back there. It's a very British ship, which might feel more at home for your needs.

Also look at Thomson, now called Marella, which has several itineraries in the Med, and they use lots of local airports, including yours. Again, a very British feel to their ships.

Hello! Sorry I don't have any advice for cruiselines or destinations, just wanted to send you encouragement for cruising with your daughter! Our daughter is 28 and has a very rare metabolic disorder, which resulted in a cognitive disability. She loves to cruise! In fact, we will be cruising this coming December for her 28th birthday. I hope you have a wonderful cruise and that you both enjoy every minute of the experience!

I don't think your daughter's needs should be too much of a diificulty for most main stream cruise lines. Specialist departments on board are pretty good now.

Check out NCL , Princess, X and Royal Caribbean for cruises with a good age range.

I am not sure what you mean by mild learning disability but I am also in this bracket (diagnosed at University no less) and it's never really been a barrier for anything. Is your daughter able to do daily activities/hold down a job etc? If so then a cruise will be no problemo.
