rka_99 Posted September 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2009 Hey Guys, need a little help with a hotel. The last cruise we were on left from Canaveral. We have never been to Miami. We booked transfers both ways from MIA (originally we were flying in same day). Should we book a hotel Saturday night near the airport then pick up the transfer in the am, or cancel the transfer and book near the port? Also any ideas on some good hotels in Miami? We are looking to spend 80-130$ Thanks for the help. R&K
cruiseat50 Posted September 15, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2009 What dates are you talking about? From what I understand it all depends on when you are going if those prices would even be possible. If in peak season probably not. :(

R&K dont know if this info will help you decide....if you get hotel near airport they will likely have shuttle to pick you up from airport to go to hotel for free.....in order to go from hotel to ship it is usually about 25 dollars taxi ride will cost the same leaving the ship back to the airport. If you get hotel near the port you will pay about 25 dollars from airport to your hotel usually no shuttles by these hotel (and again same $25.00 back to airport after the cruise) ride from these hotels near port to go to ship will be closer to 10.00. Not a lot of help but at least some numbers to work with. Also I have heard that staying at hotels near airport the ones in BLUE LAGOON area are usually in good area. Hope some of this helps. Nanatravel Posted September 15, 2009 #7 Share Posted September 15, 2009 Dates are December 12th-13th. For a two night stay pre-cruise, you might want something near "things to do & Places to eat". With that in mind I would not stay near the airport. Try Priceline and Hotwire for Miami Downtown or Miami South Beach or Beach. We got the Intercontinental on Hotwire for about $100 per night near Bayside for November. I know locals say go to the beach, but prices oceanside are usually much more. We can take a taxi or bus to SOBE. Bon Voyage

R&K For that price you're going to have to try Priceline or Hotwire for anything decent, you won't get anything clean and safe for that price booking directly. R&K 2 years ago we stayed at La Quinta airport east with free shuttle from the airport and free shuttle to the cruise port....and we're going to do it again this fall. They are quoting $85.50 plus tax. It's an OK hotel, all we need is a place to sleep....
rka_99 Posted October 7, 2009 Author #10 Share Posted October 7, 2009 Thanks for the info. One more question, when searching hotels on travelocity, expiedia ect... what location in Miami should I be searching for if POM isn't listed. Thanks again
BlueHerons Posted October 7, 2009 #11 Share Posted October 7, 2009 Thanks for the info. One more question, when searching hotels on travelocity, expiedia ect... what location in Miami should I be searching for if POM isn't listed. Thanks again Don't search downtown (Port of Miami) because there isn't much to do there. South Beach would be your best bet but it might be out of your price range. Instead look at Coral Gables and Coconut Grove.

If you need to stay out by the airport for some reason the "Blue Lagoon" area hotels on the south side of the airport are in a much better location.
