What is the "White Hot Party"

Its basically a disco / club music and dance party. The staff and staff dancers will be in white, often featuring angel wings. During the day, lots of the crew will be in White Hot white t-shirts, advertising the event.

Those passengers who do wear white add to the ambiance because the area is flooded with black light, making the white colors glow.

If you have got something white to wear, the do it. Leave your bedsheets in the cabin, please!!

here is a link to a u-tube video of the ship's dancers doing a routine at one of the Pearl White Hot parties to give you an idea of the feeling of the party ... there is a DJ and lots of club-style dancing for passengers as well.

Thank you. I will certainly pack a white outfit for this fun event.

Can anyone explain to me what the white hot party is and are we supposed to wear a white outfit?

Thanks & regards,

Arlene

On both our NCL cruises, we found this to be a bit of a non-event. At most 10-15% of passengers get involved. The staff thing is to try and gee folks up to buy the NCL W-H-P tee shirts and other paraphernalia!!

The main theatre show, and all other entertainment takes place as normal, so it is definitely no big deal unless you particularly enjoy that type of thing.

Thanks for the info. I know I would love it, but my DH would hate it! I may have to go alone.

I didn't make it to the party on our last cruise, but I am definitely going to make this next one. I don't mind a smaller turnout...more room for me to dance...lol. I've seen several photos and videos of parties that were full of passengers having a great time.

Yes, white is a MUST. Otherwise, they won't let u in.

I think this poster is trying to be amusing, since of course, it is not true. Of course they will let you in even though you are not wearing white.

My husband is 50 and I am 42.We were not impressed with the WHP. Music is the techno dance pounding stuff and as young at heart as both of us are, it was definitely not our scene. More for the younger crowd, in my opinion. The teen kids were going crazy running around and I got a drink spilled on me. A little chaotic for us.

Now the Monte Carlo night in the casino was more our style.

It is not in the cruise documentation, but make sure to carefully read your Freestyle Daily each morning (i bring a highlighter just for this purpose) and you will see that it is well advertised. However, it takes place at 11:30 pm and has always been just too late for me on our previous NCL cruises, as it seemed to fall on the night before or after an early port day and I have always been in bed by that time. :o

Hardly anyone wore white to our ships' party. You won't miss a thing if you don't go in white. We're low 50s'. The party was "okay" for us for a little while. The most interesting aspect was watching the 20-somethings get stupid drunk and make idiots out of themselves. Just like we used to do :D

The White Hot Party was barely attended on both of our NCL cruises. We went to it on our first cruise and it was okay - nothing special. And the angel wings are pretty silly. It's just an excuse for NCL to try and sell more crap. The people we saw dancing seemed to be having fun. I'm 32 and it all seemed a little juvenile to me.

White is not a req to get into the parties. They are not about to turn away a potential customer from their bar service.

On the Jade this past spring, the average age of passengers was probably in the 50's. They started the party playing rock and pop songs that got everyone up and dancing. They were giving away free shots of vodka. Once they started playing the pulse music, the place cleared out pretty quickly.

On the Jewel cruise we just returned from, the average age was probably in the 70's and the party was lightly attended. The music they played was not too inviting either.

We get the impression they want to appeal to "clubbers", but we do not think that the average NCL customer is the clubbing sort.

I'm 45 and hubby's 51. We've only attended one White Hot Party and that was because we were still in the room from the activity before the party took place.

Two or three of the crew got up on the furniture and danced, quite a few people attended and danced.

Hubby and I, who don't dance, had a drink and watched the goings on. It was enjoyable for a while, until we couldn't take the techno/pulse/whatever??? music any longer.

I think age has to do with it and I think NCL is going in the right direction to get the average age younger onboard their fleet. The Norwegian Epic will attest to that fact as well given the number of nightlife venues. It depends on the time of year largely as to when the WHP is better attended too and the destination. The average age on certain itineraries swings way older and then most don't appreciate the beats on those particular sailings. Caribbean and Bermuda sailings are great attendance wise and they're not overflowing given the size of the space they hold it in. I can attest I'm now a loyal NCL customer who loves to club! :D
