Mauregato you are my new favorite person! What an amazing thing you did. SAfrican so happy for you and your husband! What a great story! I found the link just about 30 minutes ago on the RCI boards and I just read through all the posts. What an emotional 30 minutes this has been! I jumped off the couch clapping laughing and crying when I found out the owners have been found. I still have tears in my eyes now! It's so great to hear happy stories like this and renews my faith in humanity.

Awesome job to Rob, Paul and Mauregato and his Captain!

(standing ovation)

Mauregato, I only became aware of this thread today, 9 March 2010 thanks to another Cruise Critic Member DFD1, posting it on the Holland America page. And I started with post number one and will not quit until the last post is made.

I'd like to extend to you an invitation. If you ever get to travel to America and come to "The Land of Enchantment", New Mexico, USA, I'd be honored to take you and your family to the best restaurant in our city!

God Bless you for being the kind and thoughtful and persevering man that you are! Your parents should be proud that they raised a man such as yourself!

Amazing! This is the most amazing story I have ever heard, read, or seen. Such a testimony to the goodness of people. Makes Cinderella look like a tragedy.

MAUREGATO and Paul - my hat is off to you and your kindness and integrity.

This is one of the most touching stories I've ever read. I was weeping by the time the camera's owner chimed in. Bravo to all involved !! This is proof that mankind is still that....kind. :)

I read so much complaining and nastiness on the CC boards. In fact, there are some I hope to never encounter on a cruise due to their nonstop attitudes. Very sad, indeed. I'm so glad I was fortunate enough to run across this thread as it renews my faith in the good folks that do reside on CC.

I see this story gets a mention in the latest issue of "Cunarder"..shame they didn't mention CC by name....

Just got an email from Paul Clifton at BBC and he tells me that the BBC will once again run this story in May when the Gregory's (SAFRICAN) go to Spain to personally meet with Captai Benito Estevez (Mauregato) to thank him.

I asked that he send me the link to that news video so that I can share it with all Cruise Critic Members on the boards.

Unfortunately, the original News video of the coverage has gone. His words are:

I'm told the video has gone but these two copy stories are still running:

Just found this thread today... I read every page and every post.

Congratulations to Mauregato and SAfrican!! (and Captain Benito!)

I belong to many many message boards, and this is by far the coolest and most heart-warming thread I've ever read on any of them!!

LOVE IT!!!

If anyone DESERVES a free cruise it is Mauregato and Capt Benito!!! But then again since they work at see they may prefer another form of vacation.......

I totally agree, if anyone deserves a free cruise, it's Mauregato ....come on Cunard, do the right thing.

Mauregato, you are an amazing person to go to so much trouble to find the owners of the camera.

Cruise Critic members who did their own investigations and offered advice, how encouraging and inspiring you have all been.

What an incredible story!!!

Hello again,

As I promised, I want to update the forum about the story.

If everything goes well , on next 17th or 18th of May SAFRICAN is going to meet in Spain ( Vigo ) the fisherman who found the camera from QM2, and I and Mr Paul Clifton will be there to count the encounter.

Last Sunday Cunnard "Queen Victory" has arrived to Vigo ( Spain ).
