okgirl Posted February 2, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2010 According to the Carnival Players Club website you are suppose to be getting complementary cocktails while playing the slots. Is this happening for anyone. I'm in the Casino a lot! and occasionally I've had them bring around trays of cocktails, and I've even had the Casino host buy me a cocktail here and there. But the website makes it sound like as long as you are playing it's free like in Vegas. I'm leaving on the Conquest in a couple of weeks and thought I'd see what other peoples experience has been. And on a related topic, since Carnival Players Club has partnered with the Venetian and you can get comps at that hotel/casino, what level of play are we talking about before comps kick in? There was a member some weeks ago that talked about getting a suite for several days, but didn't say what level of play it took to get it. It's not unusual for me to have 5000+ points by the end of a 7 day cruise. Maybe that's not that much, I don't know??????
serene56 Posted February 2, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2010 Mabe for high rollers but can you imagine how crowded the casino would be if they offered free drinks to the gamblers? We average about 1,000 points per cruise and not offered freebies

mudpievelour Posted February 2, 2010 #4 Share Posted February 2, 2010 I'm sure it's in the contract no free booze in the casino. Someone (maybe a casino employee if not you) is going to pay for it. Why would people buy any drinks at the bars if they knew they could go to the casino and get them free? And alcohol is a BIG profit center on a cruise ship. Although for your convenience there is a rather large bar JUST outside the "door" to the casino.
JStarbrite Posted February 2, 2010 #5 Share Posted February 2, 2010 Once, while on a winning streak at the craps table, I ordered a drink. When it came, the pit boss, said" this one's on us". This was after placing many winning bets for the dealers. Other than that, no.
newporttngirl Posted February 2, 2010 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2010 They walked around taking drink orders so you would not have to leave your machine. But nothing free. ;)
FrogFritter Posted February 2, 2010 #7 Share Posted February 2, 2010 I was sitting next to a man at the penny slots and he had about 3500 points and the server came up to him, addressed him by 1st name and asked what complimentary drink he would like. But, nothing free for me! HA!
dclark Posted February 2, 2010 #8 Share Posted February 2, 2010 This is just another reason why you should never gamble on a ship. Here in NV, the state gaming commission oversees the casinos to make sure they are on the up and up, on a cruise ship in the ocean, who is watching them??? On our first cruise with CCL back in '98, we noticed how, even though the casino was full, it was a lot quieter than the casinos where we live. What was missing? The loud sound of coins hitting the tray!
ryanpatricksmom Posted February 2, 2010 #9 Share Posted February 2, 2010 I've received a letter in my cabin that when presented to the casino manager, entitled me to some extra points (can't remember how many), and a complimentary cocktail. I can't remember if that was this past cruise, or the one prior, so I don't know if it's going to be a regular thing from now on or not. I rarely exceed the 1000 points necessary to get the bonus, so clearly that didn't have anything to do with being a high roller. :D I think they just felt sorry for me. ;)

But the other cruise no one offered me anything. I definitely don't think you should look for it.

They mailed it out and I remember others on the board saying that received it. I did not use it but since that time I have visited Vegas and played a little in Venetian/Palazzo and now I receive offers from them directly, so I don't expect to get that mailing again. Elationismyship Posted February 2, 2010 #14 Share Posted February 2, 2010 Just off the Splendor and ended up gambling a lot -- never offered a free drink (nor did I expect one). However, my husband played in the Texas Hold-em Poker Tournament and once they table was seated, the casino host took a drink order (for free) for everyone at the table. Traveler353 Posted February 2, 2010 #17 Share Posted February 2, 2010 I receive at least once a month a mailing and e-mail from the Venetian/Palazzo offering me comps-rooms, food, show tickets, etc. I am anything but a highroller. In fact on my last cruise I never set foot in the casino onboard. I have already received my Feb comp mailing from them and my comps have been upped. I don't go to Vegas, I live in a casino town. Same here as far as the letter. On our cruise last year I received an additional complimentary cocktail. Not this year, though.
okgirl Posted February 2, 2010 Author #19 Share Posted February 2, 2010 Apparently I'm a freebie magnet, as I've been comped drinks (both with and without the letter) and usually find the food table too. And I usually have a waiter attached to my hip. I've gotten lots of comps along the way too, but not so many or often since they changed to the Carnival Players Club. That's when I noticed the change in wording to complementary cocktails, but so far I've only gotten what everyone else around me is getting. Once a year or so ago, I was surprised when a Casino host approached me at a slot machine and called me by name. They were needing to update my profile and had "seen" me playing from the back, but by the time they got to the floor I was gone from that machine. So maybe, since I'm sure they are tracking everything that you do from the back, that's when they come out with the comps.

PittsburghGirlee Posted February 4, 2010 #23 Share Posted February 4, 2010 Does anyone know if there is a link that you can sign up to let them know when your next cruise is? There used to be one for the Ocean Players Club.
lillian marie Posted February 4, 2010 #24 Share Posted February 4, 2010 I got 2 coupons for free drinks in the casino as a past slot player and it was only for wine and beer. I asked for a long island iced tea or a martini and the server said only wine or beer was offered with the coupons.
spacemanspiff33 Posted February 4, 2010 #25 Share Posted February 4, 2010 They have an automated dealing table setup just for it! On my Glory cruise a few years back the poker table was ALWAYS stacked with good players!! Won me a few hundred bucks and lost a few hundred, ended up breaking even but there was always a packed table and a good crowd. Its a really great setup too, all the benefits of online poker, but at an actual table with the company right there. I was really looking forward to it again on the Elation and budgeted actually a few G just for Poker!!! I was gutted when I was never once able to find a pokermate....I tried sitting at that empty table on a few occassions and teh crowd just never developed. Hopefully on my upcoming Glory cruise there will be a good poker crowd.....not really down with the other Casino games but I love me some poker!!!!
