Immebsmom Posted February 3, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2010 I have only sailed Disney and book a cabin I will be happy with and then try to upgrade at the port to a better room, usually for much less money than booking that room to begin with (better location or from view to a balcony, etc...) this is my first sailing with RCCL and wonder what their policy is on this? Has anyone ever done it and if so, how much? We are in a balcony now, and I would like to surprise my Aunt and upgrade to a suite if possible. Thanks everyone!!! cb at sea Posted February 3, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2010 There are seldom any "good rooms" left by saildate....if you want one, then go ahead and "upgrade" yourself now! The chances of doing it at the pier are slim.

Ashland Posted February 3, 2010 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2010 However..sometimes a cancellation can happen..After checkin ask where the Pier Coordinator is ....It never hurts to ask ;) !!!
ISABELLA Posted February 3, 2010 #5 Share Posted February 3, 2010 Even they have rooms - they want $$ for the upgrades. " Free" upgrades are rare.

OP wasn't asking about a "free" upgrade, but rather one at a reduced cost. As previously stated, these are seldom available anymore since upgrades are first offered to D+ passengers, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
duncanmaria Posted February 4, 2010 #7 Share Posted February 4, 2010 Of our 5 RCCL cruises, all but one was sold out by sail date. But it can't hurt to ask.
